Patriots have been in contact with Cam Newton....

If healthy, Newton would be miles ahead of Stidham.

My issue with Newton is that I don't believe he could handle the Boston Sports press, they would destroy him.

I assume Newton is still a free agent. If so, having him in for a tryout would be a no-risk move. That said, I think Newton sticking with the Pats would be a long shot.

Bill- Cam I gotta say you are a inspiration to us and your game is the quintessential training methods I use to prepare my team.
Cam- Coach I think your the greatest Im so glad to hear you say that. You know you hear about how much you guys like Stidham and I didn't want to believe it but you know.
I'm glad to hear it front the Goats mouth coach.

Bill- Cam you didn't let me finish we watch your superbowl film regularly to teach the team no matter what you dont give up on the football even if your going to get creamed like you did.
We like to put it on pause that moment when you cold decided winning this game isn't that important to me.
We take turns making memes out of the that look on your face.
Now if you want to come in and compete for the number 2 spot we will have to teach you ball security so it be more of a number 3.
But I always admired your athletic ability.

Cam- Coach you want me to compete for a job nah I'm good.

Bill- so are we hey you want me to send you those memos they crack me up thanks Cam.

We COULD use another tight end.

Thank goodness. Let's get a real NFL QB for this team ASAP.

If Newton and his camp really wanted to get the attention of BB they'd propose a 1 year deal with cheap base numbers and big incentives.

Making himself crazy value is his only play really.

There's possible perceived value to a Cam signing based on the soaring stock of Kaepernick's years-long campaign, and the Patriots' recent statement regarding events in the news (whether any of us like it or not). They could sign a serviceable NFL QB, and not be one of those all-white-QB teams.

Similarly, actual play in 2020 could be moot or discounted regardless of any such considerations, given the jeopardy the season is in from the pandemic. You could end up with positive brand points in a virus-cancelled season.

Assuming we did get to play, we could kick the tires on Cam Newton for 1 year.

Add a healthy dose of who tf knows, of course.

Newton is 2-0 vs the Pats with a 128 passer rating. If ya can’t beat him...well you know. Lol

Yah I was at Cam's last W over the Pats in Foxboro. Our D was awful. Gilmore a penalty machine on 3rd & long all day. Brady was out of sync. I went home pretty disgusted.
Of course we went on to win the Lombardi again. Proving once again I know nothing about football.

Cam at his best is a freak of nature -- when you see him in person from the whole field perspective you see how the defense has to respect his ability to run -- he has a gravitational orbit that distorts defensive schemes and could be really interesting to see how it played out up here. Unfortunately, he is not at his best, and has a pretty long injury history at this point. Can't hurt to kick the tires though, see what he is offering. I mean, FFS this team picked up Tim Freaking Tebow.

How will the media be able to handle their QB looking like a Dr. Seuss character at every post game interview?

One would think we had some immunity anyway, since we drafted Jacoby Brissett not so very long ago and put him in games.

Besides, race quotas are racism anyway. Always promote based purely on merit.

If NE were serious Newton wouldn't still be available.

All this news does is let Stidham know that the job is his, but Newton is on speedial.

Cam is light years a better option than Trubisky or Rosen

For the same low price on a prove it deal, sure, if reasonably healthy.

I have serious doubts that Cam would even consider a low salary one year prove it deal, though.

He won't sit out a whole year. If he's sitting around in late July I could see him sucking it up for a 1 year 5M prove it deal just to rebound his career.

I dunno. He has to see the writing on the wall...he's no longer elite.
