How Many Points A Game Under Stidham In 2020?

To that let me add, Stids will have an offensive line centered by an actual starting centerman. I don't think any of us realy appreciated what David Andrews brings to the table until he wasn't there.

Losing Isaiah Wynn for the entire season also hurt us but I'm way less confident that Wynn will ever see the field consistently after 2 straight years of not even being close to reliable to take the field and what the loss of those 2 years will mean for his eroding OL skills.

he played every snap of the last 6 games of the season.....he's 23 and the skills will not be eroding yet

16-18 points per game sounds about right.

It will be fairly easy stopping the run for opposing teams and force a young QB to win the game with receivers who can’t separate.

In 2016 with JG and Brissett the Patriots averaged 20.25 games. And that was without Gronk too. And btw for over a game the Patriots QB had a broken thumb on his throwing hand.

How do the Patriots only average 16-18 points?

16. No play makers on this offense.

Much of that was Jimmy who has proven to be a solid QB and the fact that we got the awful Dolphins and Texans in that 4 game stretch. We were shut out with Brissett vs the Bills. I think over 16 games you would have some games where we score over 20 but also many where we are held to under 10. This schedule is brutal which is another reason for the conservative prediction as well as the offensive being much worse skill position-wise this season than 2016.

The Cardinals, Dolphins, Texans, and Bills finished a combined 33-30-1.

And is the offense really much worse skill position-wise? Remember Gronk missed the first 2 games. Had 1 target against the Texans. And 1 catch against the Bills.

The only major plus for 2016 is Martellus Bennett.

And remember we are assuming that Stidham is not going to be playing 30% of the season with a broken thumb. That seems like a major plus to me for the 2020 offense:thumbsup:

Is it that brutal defensively? Other than SF I don't see any defenses on our schedule that scare me. Might not be a bad year to break in a young QB.

Stids will earn 1st downs with his wheels unlike the Tompa statue
Stids will prolong plays with his wheels creating deeper pass completions than Two Yard Tompa
Stids will look at all receiver options forcing D’s to defend all the field vs just concentrating on Tompa’s little pale buddy.
Stids will start season with a NFL FB and athletic TE options

In other words I expect the Pats offense to be better than Tompa’s last go. The bar was set so low it can only be better in 2020
Can I add that Stids won't freeze out receivers if they run a wrong route.....

I'm going with 22 points per game from the offense.

Our division has probably two of the toughest with the Bills and Miami. I would then put the Ravens, Niners, Chargers, Broncos. Of course the teams without a dominant D have very good to elite Qbs.

Yes.

The Bills defense is a bit overrated imo. Like us they benefited from a soft schedule in 2019 - as did the Dolphins- and they've been vulnerable to the run even since before last season. I think that's a great matchup for us if the Patriots offense is as run focused as I think it will be in 2020.

Ravens will be very good but they're a notch below ours and SF's imo.

I disagree. Wynn looked very pedestrian and 6 games is still less than half of the season. And when you've spent the majority of your NFL career unable to effectively practice how can your skills possibly NOT erode? He's basically still a rookie and a 24 year old rookie at a position that doesn't age well even when players stay healthy.

We will be the first team in NFL history to have 0 points per game and make the playoffs.

Wait stidham can run? Then 17 ppg for Offense (including kicking), 4 ppg for D and ST, so 21ppg average. Our defense will be great again.

This team is going 9-6 is my guess, only real competition will be the Bills in our division: toss up whether we finish ahead of them this year.

In Bill I Trust.

That also might put him in ROTY conversations.
2nd year QB, can't be ROTY, just like Brady in 2001 couldn't.

Yep good catch.

I thought there was a way for a second year player to be considered a rookie for the purpose of ROTY but I guess Brady didn’t qualify. Maybe because he saw game action in his actual rookie season.

30 points a game!!!!!!

...brought to you by my inner Pats cheerleader. :)
now that makes sense to me...a lot more than a wild ass guess about how many points the Pats will score next year...nice "pom poms" by the way...:)

Defenses will load the box and dare Stidum to take shots on the outside. Problem is, Pats don't have nobody that scares opposing secondaries.

Michel is going to have another rough year. O-line play should be better IF they stay healthy. However, they aren't talented enough to blow D-lines over and create holes consistently by themselves. Michel needs a FB to follow and they don't have anyone that's a dependable run blocker. Vitale has admitted blocking isn't exactly his calling card. Jacob Johnson is a below average blocker. I can't assume the rookie TE's can block until proven otherwise.

This offense is going to struggle.

Is 14 per game plus an average of 3 from the defense reasonable? Folks can look up where that puts us.

Just enough to win each game.

How can any of us know or even guess?
I'm pretty sure BB would think this is a question he wouldn't address.
