How Many Points A Game Under Stidham In 2020?

Is 14 per game plus an average of 3 from the defense reasonable? Folks can look up where that puts us.

Hmmm, tough one. Looking at their sched, there will be some games where they may struggle to get to 6 points and others where they will be able to score in the 20s. I’ll go with an average of 16 points per game.

21

14 by the offense and 7 by defense and ST.

I don't care. More than the opponent. I'm more concerned about TOP, turnover differential and situational skills than raw points. Stidham can have low point totals and if he controlled the TOP, limited turnovers, played good situational football and avoided big mistakes he'll win the football game, which is the only bit that actually matters.

The 2001 Patriots with a green Tom Brady averaged 23 points a game and that was in a different era. Don't see why the 2020 Patriots can't at least match that. None of the defenses we play this year other than SF's scare me that much.

I'll take a stab at 17

26 ppg average.

4 figgies and 2 TD's over an average of 9 drives per game....with the D/ST's giving us 3 or 7 on a short field drive weekly.

16 in 2019 would have made us the worst in the NFL. 17 per game would put us ahead of WASH.

Jacksonville with Gardner Minshew, a rookie 6th round pick, at QB averaged 18.75. Note that his #1 WR was DJ Chark, first I ever heard of him, a year 2 player who played about as well as his rookie year as N'Keal Harry did. So pretty much 19 points represents the realistic floor for the 2020 Patriots I think.

That was good enough for 11-4-1 (probably 12-4) last season.

The patriots averaged 26.25 points a game in the 2019-2020 season.

19 points per game was 26th in the league last year.

The open question is how good an offense do we need to be to compete, and score enough points (to be added to defensive and ST points)?

It seems to be a reasonable expectation to have a TD less than the average of ALL of 2019.

We were 7th in scoring last year. My guess is we are somewhere between 15-18 this year.

16-18 points per game sounds about right.

It will be fairly easy stopping the run for opposing teams and force a young QB to win the game with receivers who can’t separate.

I set the bar extra low so anything above that will be a victory.

I'm gonna say 20-21 ppg. Think we're good for 1 TD each via pass and run, maybe an extra one here or there from either phase. Any bad game could probably be replaced by a FG or two

Stids will earn 1st downs with his wheels unlike the Tompa statue
Stids will prolong plays with his wheels creating deeper pass completions than Two Yard Tompa
Stids will look at all receiver options forcing D’s to defend all the field vs just concentrating on Tompa’s little pale buddy.
Stids will start season with a NFL FB and athletic TE options

In other words I expect the Pats offense to be better than Tompa’s last go. The bar was set so low it can only be better in 2020
