Everyone's mad about having Brady leave and having a bunch of cap issues come home to roost at once (partly caused by... Brady leaving), but the miracle is that the Patriots have managed to keep all the metaphorical balls in the air for so long in the first place. Literally nobody in sports has done it.
The down years for Pats roster management (not counting 2008, which was just "have a guy kneecap Brady") were 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2019. The average win total in those "down" "rebuilding" seasons was... 11.5. That's unreal.
