Not so OT: Chad O'Shea fired after Pats offense "too hard to learn"

Recent world events have forced us to entertain ourselves in creative ways. Example : we are reading and writing about an ex WR coach of an NFL team we cheer for. It’s crazy, but here’s where we are !
No, we're actually reading and talking about our complicated offensive scheme that may be too complicated for other teams to absorb.

Not sure it is Chad or the scheme, it is just that he did not have the GOAT running it.

I wish O'Shea had been re-hired as our WR coach...or maybe a former player from this Mentoring program...but Mikey Lombardi? WTF does he know about what it takes to be an NFL WR?
Yeah, and get rid of that bum BB too, he never played the game. Neither did Josh McD (beyond college) or yes, Chad O'Shea.

Kind of a side note: I was at the Pats Fins game last season in Miami...was painfully obvious the players and Chad were not on the same page...I mentioned as much in the post game thread. Nobody on the Fins offense seemed to care what Chad was barking to them on the field.

I hope the Pats play calling is a little easier this season on the young WR’s.

Do not get this rumor at all, and OC tries to implement an Offense that no one understands or could learn?? No one noticed??

It seems odd that a team that won 5 games, but 3 out or their last 5 would fire him.. if anything they seemed to be making progress.

Maybe we need to get some graphic artist to update the Ryan Fitzpatrick cycle by replacing GET RELEASED with GETS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR FIRED.

If that's the case (and I'm not convinced any of this rumor is 100% accurate anyway), then it would still be a problem with Chad. If you have a system so complicated that you need a 20 year vet who's won 6 Super Bowls to successfully run it, yet make no adjustments (or your adjustments fail) to account for a lesser QB, then that's still a failing of the coach.

I always liked that actress on the left...she was also in The Secret of My Success and The Best of Times...late-30s during those movies but still bangable...

In a league with a salary cap and competitive teams, anyone can pick out « the guy with unreal athleticism ». I suspect that in the nfl, the search for bigger, stronger is easier than the search for intelligent.

I would think that putting more importance on intelligence would be a way to get an edge. Because all the teams are fighting to draft Ryan, you’d be better off with Wilson. A guy like KVN becomes available for peanuts.

I’d think a rebuilding team would keep O’Shea and find a player smart enough to run the plays. They’re not being asked to solve the world’s greatest mysteries....
Your first point just shows it’s easier for the team to fire O’Shea. And they only have to fire one coach, they’d have to find multiple smart players. And when finding smart players is not an area of competence for them that would be asking a lot.

Nice to know the Phins will continue their traditional AFC East level of play.

Seems odd though because the Miami offense was on fire its last 5 games last year , averaging 26 points per game ???

Right? Apparently this flaw was not evident until the WR group was forced to meet over Zoom.

I can get behind the concept of the firing/release. The timing is super weird.

Dolphins offense looked pretty good beating the Pats in week17 including this winning fourth quarter 2minute drill...
