OT: Brady Film Review 2019

SB1 knew Brady was done in 2013 as stats don't lie and his 87 rating that year clearly showed he would never be the same again. Just seems like an odd coincidence to me that Brady was less effective when throwing to Aaron Dobson and Jacobi Meyers than he was to Gronk or Branch. With a weak OL and receivers unable to get on the same page Brady threw away more balls than at any time in his career last year. Completion % is a huge component of QB rating. I don't think anyone is arguing he had a great year but leading the team to a 12-4 record and scoring over 400 points is something the team would sign up for in 2020.

Stats lie all the time. Brady had one of his all time games against the Chiefs in the AFCCG in a cold, hostile environment. He led the team to must TD's drive after drive after drive but because they ran the ball in instead of passing his all important QB rating suffered. Who cares?

I think its naive to think Brady is a top MVP candidate at 43 but I also do not believe he fell off the cliff like others do. With a sound line and better receivers he is quite capable of leading a team to 400+ points and the playoffs.
Great post. Is there really any other take on the subject that makes more level headed sense than this one? Why is this not universally accepted on Patsfans? o_O

Nice straw man, keep putting them up and knocking them down. You are killing it.

Truth hurts. Scoreboard don’t lie and in the same way neither do stats like this. You want context? How about a 42 year old with that passer rating. Is it a one off and a total fluke and Brady isn’t declining at all and he will be back to his 100 passer rating self at age 43 and 44? Guess we’ll find out. I doubt it though.

That stat says all is not well with the passing offense and it starts at the QB unfortunately.
thats not perspective. Why was he so unhappy when his stats were good in the first half. Critical thinking. Work on it

Remember when you were in love for the first time as a teenager? Everything was perfect, but the relationship eventually ran its course, ending suddenly but amicably? What did you do? You blamed yourself, ignored the obvious signs of decay, begged and bargained, promising that you can change.

Now, with the wisdom and experience of adulthood, you can look back rationally and understand why the relationship failed. You recognize that person's flaws, their incompatibility with you.

Over the past few months, both media pundits and many fans have experienced the teenage heartbreak portion of Brady's departure. He had no weapons, the team is cheap, he deserved better, etc. These people are still battling with the early stages of grief, those stages are driven by ego and fantasy.

Eventually, we will move on, and realize that this was necessary. Keeping Brady would mean gutting the defense, abandoning long-term sustainability in favor of expensive flashy wideouts. Eventually, we are also going to realize that Tom Brady was not a good QB over the second half of 2019. His accuracy was off. His attitude sucked. Those picks late in the Miami and Tennessee games may have been his worst throws since the early days.

Id say that play was mostly on Welker as it was a catchable ball and likely a game clincher if he made it. But it was more difficult than it should have been. There was a good reason why the Giants S was moving in that direction. Bradys mistake wasn’t the throw itself - if he threw to Welker front the safety drills him or picks off the pass...it was waiting too long and then locking on to the receiver that made the throw what it was.
The Receiver turned The Wrong Way...Period. Brady did NOT "wait too long" or "lock on" to him...The moment that both DBs, 23 & 26, hesitated when Branch stopped is the moment when the Receiver should've started angling away from #21 and toward the sidelines, AS THE COVERAGE DICTATED.

i feel grief that the Brady era is over but that doesnt mean when I snap out of it Ill realize Brady had turned into a dried up over the hill 20 year partner if you're using that analogy. Ive lost some hot girlfriends that continued on being hot for someone else. Brady and the team was breaking up last year same way couples go through the motions as their relarionships die. Neither were all in and the play suffered. They seemed uninterested in doing what it took to keep it going

I've studied this play over and over again. The ball takes a huge bounce of the ground which gives the illusion of an inaccurate pass. But the reason it takes a huge bounce is because look at Welker's hands stuck together. Also, Welker's body contorts again giving the illusion that the pass is inaccurate, but he contorts it immediately after realizing the ball has deflected...as if to try desperately to bobble and recover.

The pass is largely an optical illusion from the camera angle. Your eyes follow Welker and the ball after he has already contacted it, but at the time he contacts it, it's a routine play.

It was a good pass, despite that Welker didn't make a great read. It's one that gets caught 95% of the time.

First angle: looks like a really bad pass/bad communication/read

Second angle: not so much at all. The immediate whiplash of Welker's body is an attempt to lunge for the ball he just dropped.

Hands ready to receive pass. In balanced position.

But they come together too fast, right on the nose of the football. That is the definition of a drop...when you are in ideal position to make a catch but mistime it with your hands.

Uh, the D was kind of already gutted - Van Noy (huge), Collins, Roberts, Shelton. They were all key contributors.

I'll never understand those who clearly don't want to read about a particular subject matter will torture themselves by clicking on a thread clearly labeled about that subject matter and then respond bitterly about having to read about that subject.:D

Agreed.

I have a feeling Sb1 is either Goodell's mother. Or this guy....

Brady had a rough time with the pass rush until Wyn came back
It was like playing 10 vs 11 when Newhouse started. The guy had size but no footwork at all. Probably a nice guy though.

Damn. If your dad had only pulled out ten seconds earlier.

sb1, did you ever notice "dog" is "god" spelled backwards? Makes you think doesn't it?

I did notice that! It’s almost like the backwards way Brady’s last pass ended up don’t ya think?

You diminish him every chance you get and have a good time doing it. How can anyone take any of your analysis seriously? On to ignore you go.

Probably way more seriously than I take anyone who trolls by ad hominem attacks or says I’m hating or trashing Brady. See ya.
