Whew. I was afraid that someone may misinterpret my poll selection as being racist or something, then I saw that everyone agrees with me. I want the guy most qualified for the job—black or white, but simply “forcing” others to choose someone based on the color of their skin seems like a stupid idea to me.

I am probably one of the most left-leaning person here... and I think it is ****ing stupid.

This won’t happen and is just asking people to get angry along racial lines and hate each other.

Is it too much to ask for a tree to fall on Roger?

Just doesn’t make any sense. Is some team going to say “Well, we think this Nick Caserio guy is really great and would put our team in the best position to pick the best players as our GM... BUUUUUUUT this other guy who is a POC will give us 10 spots better draft position in the third round 2 years from now when our team still sucks because we didn’t hire the best candidate for the job... hmmm....”

True liberalism is dead.

Lol... this ****ing hilarious... Belichick should hire the surviving cast of Good Times as coaches and cinch a top 5 pick

That said, about 70% of players are African-American.
True, but what is the metric that one should use to determine if some group is "underrepresented?" If playing the game at the high level required for the NFL is directly translatable into coaching skill, then the 70 percent figure is relevant. If being a great athlete has little to do with being a great NFL coach, then the percentage of the national population is more appropriate.

I’m just thinking out loud here, so ignore if you want, but I truly doubt a team is going to hire a HC to move up 6 spots or a GM to move up 10 spots in the 3rd round. The only instance I see this coming into play is if there are to even or nearly even candidates for the same job, then maybe it will come into play. A team is going to hire the guy they feel is best for their team (Or at least they should), PERIOD, not to move up in the 3rd round.
Picking the right coach is so much more important than draft position. The best example is Belichick, for whom the Patriots gave up a first round pick. He has been worth far more to the franchise than whomever that pick might have been.

Percent of African Americans in USA: 12.6%
Percent of NFL head coaches that are Africa American: 12.5%

(Actual numbers)
This is disingenuous, the number of african americans who play football compared to the coach ratio is the issue. And I don't think the proposal is a good idea, but this is just irresponsible use of stats.

I don't know what the metric is, but the current one seems way off. Why? I have no idea, probably a lot of reasons, all of which should be investigated and addressed if necessary.

Are you sure this 70% is descendant from Africa? Could be Carribean? European? Spare me the BUT HAITIANS CAME FROM AFRICA ! if that's the case then way more than half of this county is "European American"

Preventing teams from blocking assistants from interviewing for coordinator positions.

At some point the league should come up with some scheme to compensate teams for staff as well. Maybe force a swap of draft picks around rounds 3-5.

But organizations are also putting a lot of effort into developing coaches and front office workers. If they leave before their contract ends there should be something coming back in return.

@Wordsmyth see...?

Make a honky GM candidate "disappear" without leaving any evidence for the authorities? Here is a compensatory 3rd!

the idea is to get the teams a benefit if they lose any coaches, if a positional coach is lost to become a OC/DC the team will receive a compensatory 5th round pick, if the coach becomes a HC or GM than its supposed to be a compensatory 3rd round pick...

in general I like the approach to benefit the teams which lose a coach, as you said they do something to get them where they are and to be able to succeed, whereas its not really an effort to go get some coach/GM and receive a benefit just because of his origin or color

I am not racicst at all, it is just the wrong approach to get them into play if you ask me
