You have access to N95 masks? My wife works directly with patients every single day and they still don’t have masks at their office, months later. I have sent emails and made phone calls to various medical supply companies all over the country, with very little response. A couple of places have allowed me to place back orders where they bill my credit card now with expected shipping dates anywhere from the middle of September to the beginning of November, and those cases were considered by me to be “successful.” The majority of places that I contacted either responded that they could not help, or simply blew me off. We'll wait and see. IMO, it is sheer incompetence for there not to be enough swabs in July or August; that's just silly. I recall the shortage of surgical/fabric masks. Sure, it existed for a few weeks, until tens of thousands of women at home, and factories starting producing them. One of the local department stores advertises that they have them. As far as N95 masks, my dentist office has an ample supply, enough to re-open with N95 masks, gowns and the rest of the necessary equipment.
Finally, we were able to purchase an order of 20 for a huge markup at 250 dollars for the box from another doctor’s office, but she’ll have to recycle them for awhile by placing them in plastic freezer bags and rotating. Obviously, that won’t last very long.
As far as the shortened swab and shoddy tests situation goes, that may be news to you, but it’s a very real thing. Our country may have made some progress since March with testing and PPE supplies, but it’s nowhere near what it needs to be.
