I've been working on building out the new template for the forum changeover when I upgrade the software. I've been messing with the coding for a few weeks now and the customization is finally coming along well, with a pretty nice layout compared to the current version.

Needless to say, I wanted to start a thread for people to drop some suggestions/requests in the hopes that I can try and get everything (or at least as much as possible) included when it's completed. So any thoughts, suggestions, etc. feel free to add them and I'll definitely see what I can do to make it happen

Whether I’m on my computer or laptop, I get logged off quite frequently. Anybody else have that problem?

Not sure why that's happening. Are you clicking the checkbox when you login to stay logged in? I've heard of a couple of people also having that issue but I haven't changed anything here in months (aside from adding the new emojis, but that shouldn't do it)...?

I believe I do. Sometimes I’m on the site ready to rate or write another response and it will make me log in again.

Weird. Hopefully this changeover, which is also a software update, will help alleviate that.

Perhaps a section accessible through the quick link menu (that’s what I call the tool you have on the top left corner) where less-adept users such as yours truly can obtain some handy “how to” guidance for things like posting images and gifs, properly attributing articles, PM’ing, ignoring, etc.

I know it could get heated at times but I truly did enjoy and miss the political forum. There's a way people can stay cordial. Would have been nice to have with the covid stuff plus the elections coming up

Maybe if there’s a way for people to still see threads created by users they have on ignore should a thread reach X amount of pages? Have seen a lot of occasions involving big topics where people start a second thread unknowingly thinking the original doesn’t exist. Can’t blame them given the amount of trolls on this board that should be rightfully ignored, but it’s too bad if someone misses out on an interesting thread of discussion because of it.

Make seperate sections in the new forum, one for the game or the team, for the draft, one for whatever...other sports, political, world news, for OT far away from the common football section, somewhere hidden where nobody cares, just split it.

Since it is a life or death situation, how about a thread for the Coronavirus? Maybe too tough to manage the political comments? Just wondering since it is so important more so than football.

Some possibilites, since you asked. I'll use your name as the neutral example name...

  • Add "GFY" and "WTF icons
  • Set up a choice for ignored people, to allow (or not allow) for someone to see a thread started by people on ignore. That one, if you can do it, would actually make things easier on the mods, as it should lessen the number of duplicate threads a little. That way, if someone wants to ignore Ian, but Ian starts a lot of, say, game day threads, they'd still see the threads, but not the words.
  • Extend the ignore to ratings, so someone who's got, say, Ian, on ignore won't even see those.
  • Allow for a search to be done based upon the number of posts in a thread. vBulletin has this. If you click on the square where the number of posts in a particular thread is, it brings up a box that lists all the people who've posted in the tread, and the number of posts they've made. That would let someone go straight to those posts. So if, for example, I was posting with Ian, but went to bed, I could just pull up his posts from the thread, and pick up from the last one I'd read.
  • Allow for animated avatars
  • Fix the Twitter/Github stuff so that its use is not such a memory hog and does not cause the lock ups it causes now
  • Add an option to your site menu that keeps the new pics from automatically showing up. It might be something that just changes from an automatic addition to an opt in/opt out option.

If you want/need more, I can try to think of some. Easing up on the censorship would be a great one to add, for example.

The only change I can think of is dividing the forum a little one link for team, one for draft, and one for gameday.

This way all the gameday threads are in one place including the old curated ones and you can check out any you want to.

The Draft forum already works very well. Then having the team be the major forum it is easy to follow.

Other advantages to this don't know why, but if you aren't interested in a particular game when you click the team link you won't be bothered by the gameday threads at the top.

Any chance the 'X' can be restored?
(asking for ̶Q̶M̶ a friend)

I would opt for a picture of our female member of the day, week or month.
