Watching a replay anyway.

I remember thinking the defense played pretty well but watching these first two drives I don’t think that anymore. What a mess- Arrington and Chung looking like Jordan Richards, a too many men penalty that nullified a turnover and led to a Giants TD (difference in the outcome?) and looking like the keystone cops in the secondary on that TD.

The Brady grounding safety shouldn’t have been called imo. How do the refs know he threw it away deep and someone didn’t blow a route?

If I recall correctly, the Pats had the 31st or 32nd-ranked pass defense in the league in 2011. I always thought the biggest killer in that mess was Gronk’s injury in the AFCCG.

Still can’t be bothered to watch any of the SB losses.

Hate the SB losses. That one, while not as difficult as others, was aggravating for a few reasons :
-while unexpected « to get there » that NYG was very beatable
-Welker drop
-CRaZY Manningham catch
-was the redemption tour - beaten a bunch of the favs

Giants had the 32nd ranked running game in the league and were slicing up our D on the ground in that game anyway lol. Yeah that defense was atrocious.

Very beatable is an understatement. I think all the future Patriots SB teams after that game would have waxed those Giants. Including the LII runner up.

Really missed Jules and High that year. That loss was a bitter pill when you know Nick Freakin’ Foles and an RPO steamrolled the D.

That defense was Wilfork, Mayo and a whole lot of scotch tape. The worst defensive personnel I can remember in a SuperBowl.

Belichick getting that team to a Super Bowl and a Gronk injury away from a win is just incredible.

Chad Ochocinco played for the Pats and has a Super Bowl catch. Heh.

Hightower was still in college.

Mark Anderson, Andre Carter and Brian Waters were awesome pick ups.

Brady had some blunders that game. Giants D line were in his head.

After going up 17-9 with Hernandez opening up the vault TD celebration, I thought Brady was going to exercise his demons. Really disappointed they couldn’t finish them off.

I’m ok with a Daniel Jones vs Jarrett Stud-ham Pats Giants III Super Bowl in the near future :)

I thought Brady played well. Better than I remembered. Two great drives to end and start the halfs. The Tuck hit didn’t look so bad in real-time but it definitely impacted him.

I don't think it was really that incredible...Pats had HFA throughout...AFCC vs Murderers shouldn't have been that close either...

Great pick ups for sure. Double digit sack seasons for both Carter and Anderson, Pro Bowl year for Waters. Was a damn shame seeing Carter blow out his quad against Denver. One of the more underrated losses when looking

Add it to another year of many where one or two more things going right for the Pats could have meant a Super Bowl win. I realize the other side of the coin holds true as well with several things going their favor to win some of their Super Bowls. At the end of the day, just damn impressive looking back on how many years they’ve been in the hunt win or lose.

Danny Woodhead showed up to play in that game.

I can't rewatch this game. I remember not even being able to think straight after the game ended because I was so angry

The worst intentional grounding call ever. He's getting hit as he throws it, and how do they know a receiver didn't blow a route and he was throwing to where the receiver was supposed to be.

Welker drop, Hernandez drop, Branch drop

Gronk being 1 on 1 deep with a bad linebacker and not winning a jump ball because he's injured, leading to an interception

The defense forcing 3 fumbles and not recovering one

The defense staying on the field for 37 ****ing minutes
