Mortensen Finally Admits Rush to Publish Deflategate Story

If Goodell crushes the Pats for the Bengals taping anyway even with no evidence linking it to football ops - we will find out if Kraft learned his lesson.

I also want the Ravens caught “cheating” in Foxboro this year. Doesn’t matter for what I want the Pats to catch them doing something and scream really loud about it. They started Deflategate so let’s see them and 345 Park Ave squirm.

The NFL office is already doing what it can to make the bengals incident into something by dragging this out like this. I doubt Kraft does anything if they take a high draft pick, he'll just take it.

"But Mortensen says he still gets the urge to push back at his critics whenever the topic arises.

Every once in a while someone will tweet something about '11 of 12.,’” he said. “And I want to tweet back, 'No matter what, it was still 11 out of 12.’""

yea like 3 of the 4 Colts balls which were allowed to warm up. Funny how that ass left that out

The "11 out 12" part of Mortensen's report was the main headline and what people remember, but there was a piece of supporting information that was worse. That was "All of the balls the Colts used met standards."

This helped cement the Patriots guilt, because any attempt to explain the PSI change due to the weather and temperature was met with "How come the Colts' footballs were unaffected? Does physics only affect one sideline in Gillette Stadium?" As we know, that part of the story was completely false, but, by the time the we learned that the PSI of the Colts footballs did change, the narrative had been changed to the text messages and Brady's phone. Everyone who was so concerned about fair play, integrity and the truth didn't care that the NFL blatantly lied to Mortensen, Peter King and others to get this story rolling.

Why is this thread from 3 years ago being resurrected?
Apparently the Germans have bombed Pearl Harbor...again
I'm so sorry, I forgot that "time heals all wounds" and that time passing by magically makes everything right.

How paranoid of me to see that propaganda increases, myths become reality more and more, atrocities are minimized and dismissed, everyone gets on with their lives, perpetrators get richer and fatter and deified, and victims suffer and die either forgotten or derided but certainly not acknowledged let alone exonerated or apologized to.

I too want both our first round draft picks returned, and Goodell and his henchmen imprisoned.

The day I look up Bill Belichick on Wikipedia and there is zero mention of fake cheating scandals and diminishing of his legacy then I'll shut up.

(No I won't. Dreith. Tatum. Orthwein.)

Let's get this lynching done fast before any more facts come out!

They're trying to figure out how to falsely connect a media film crew with the team and/or coaches.

The reliable strategy is to do nothing, let Patriots hate and bias simmer, until the typical media tsunami of witch hunting crests, and ride it home.

A good time will probably be when the Patriots are back in the AFCCG in January. It serves the additional purpose of attempting to distract the team from winning.

I hope Roger Goodell dies from Coronavirus so there’s at least some silver lining.
Seems too merciful for me, plus there will be unwarranted sympathy and mourning.

Plus zero condemnation and exposure of guilt.

I don't blame you guys but for some reason he doesn't really bother me too much. I don't picture him being a vindictive pr*ck but I've been wrong before. Those other ex NY employees though I hope burn in hell, and the other owners who are the real ones driving all this anti pats nonsense can choke on it.

You are subscribing to the Kraft theory that Goodell is simply doing the owners' bidding, that he somehow is not responsible for his actions.

I suggest opening your eyes.

I do feel the owners had the most to do with all the gates, even this last one that's still pending. Goodell is still an idiot though and almost all his rulings have been hot garbage. He's not innocent do not get me wrong. I would love for him to be gone.

Unfortunately, when Goodell is gone, someone even weaker (if possible) will step in for half the money. It’s the way it’s become. It certainly won’t be a powerful lawyer (or even a lawyer at all) like Tagliabue...

Condy Rice is a big fan and was interested in the position, but they don't want her, she has a spine.

In an interview I saw many years ago, Rice called NFL commish her "dream job."

Roger is the owners' fall guy and he'll do anything they tell him to do, including lie in court. He looks like a slime-ball too, which helps his image.

I don't really care anymore. Brady is gone and it's a battle that, ultimately, doesn't matter anymore. It fueled Brady and the team for a few years and left to two more Super Bowl trophies.

E!SPN still sucks, Mort is still an idiot, and what's the difference anymore?

Umm...you gotta count 2014. It's when NFL had their hands on our balls.

Moot point. BB wanted to kick Brady to the curb and not surround him with talent.

Chris Mortensen Still Stands By His False Deflategate Report

One more time. This as-s-hole continued to defend this repeatedly even after facts were out that he was wrong. Complete nonsense that it was spur of the moment.

Fck you Chris.

Excerpt below from the above article

**************************************

Mortensen was a guest on the Doug & Wolf show on Arizona sports 98.7 FM, and said he still stands by his story.

“The whole narrative that somebody from the league deliberately leaked false information to me is so much baloney," Mortensen said. "It actually is insulting, because I made the inquiry: ‘How many footballs are we talking about? Three or four?' 'No, 11 of 12 – two PSI under.'

"Listen, I didn’t even know what the regulations for PSI at the time were. But I pick up the phone and I had very little dialogue with that person, so then I call somebody else – another source – and [he] says, ‘It is a mess; 11 of 12 footballs.' The focus was on the 11 footballs. But this person also said, ‘Significanly under inflated.” And so where I get in trouble, is I tweet, '[The balls were] two pounds under.’ We clarified and simply went to 'significantly under inflated' after it became clear there was conflicting data. By the way, it was 11 of 12 footballs. The Princeton professor who was hired to disprove the Ted Wells report agreed on which gage was used. So even then we’re talking about five balls in the 10-range, another five that were in the low 11 range, and not only that, we also know the league itself didn’t even get it right when they sent the notification letter to the Patriots saying one ball was as as low as 10.1 PSI."

Mortensaid also said Patriots owners Robert and Jonathan Kraft called him to apologize for "the way this thing has gone down." WEEI's Dennis & Callahan show reported Thursday night no such phone call ever happened.

Don't care, don't care, don't care. Maybe it's being older, maybe it's fatigue from the whole thing. But if I hear or read someone say Cheaters I just shrug and say "If your team cared as much, maybe they would do it, too."

They think it. Nothing is going to stop it. I could be bitter like Shula or I could just not care. Guess which one gets people to shut up faster.

He is such a liar. I hope he rots in hell
