Great news: Pass interference replay is dead

Even if you like instant replay, which nobody should, it was never a good idea to have "How much contact is too much contact?" be reviewable.

What is your basic argument re: instant replay, then?

100% thumbs up for this move. It's become surprising when the NFL actually does something right.

The PI replay was dead before it started as there is no universal standard to start with and it just took subjectivity from the field to the booth. I'd prefer all challenges come from the coach vs the booth in final 2 minutes as it becomes part of a teams strategy whether to save challenges or not. I would give teams an extra challenge if they got a prior call correct (would have helped the Pats in the KC game)

My basic argument?

Instant replay as it's been done in its history is, and has been, bad empirically and for the games, and should be eliminated from every major sport, with the possible exception of stationary/semi-stationary cameras at NFL and NHL goal lines.

Simpler suggestion add another official to give two more eyes on what happens in passing situation..

The worse thing about replay is it completely disrupts the rhythm of the game..

Now, if you want to tell me that a league using replay has found a way to adequately word a "What the hell was that official thinking, making such on obviously blown call at this critical juncture?" general overrule, I'm willing to take a look at that.
Did you seriously just write that?

Because if you did, then it would be Impossible for me to disagree with that claim any more than I already do.

I don't think the reviews were that long. 99% weren't overturned so they just need to avoid those Saints/Rams moments.

I remember many times a play was reviewed and not over-turned when it should have been.

When the NYFL started there were posters here who predicted exactly what would happen with those reviews... nothing.

I am so happy it is gone.

Small loss. Until some blatantly bad PI call goes against the Pats.

Then you should know you're wrong. ;)

It’s the never ending cycle of instant replay usage. People get fed up with how inefficient and poorly run it is.... until there’s a blatantly atrocious call, then people say “instant replay should be available to overturn such atrocious calls!”

People acted like Rams Saints was a common occurrence.

Calls that blatant are not the norm

And yet, on a regular basis for the past decade, we've pointed to numerous over-looked DPI against the Patriots and plenty of ludicrous OPI that were called on them.. Particularly when it came to Gronk.

Anyone not in favor of instant replay is not in favor of knowing the truth.

Ticky tacky, sure.

There’s a difference between ticky tacky where it should’ve been called, vs. completely egregious.

The Kuechly Gronk hold is the only one I can truly remember being to this level.

NFL refs are blind as well as stupid. The rule didn’t work

Just last season there were numerous times it was as egregious as the Kuechly Gronk hold..

Look...do I want replay? Sure I do. I want replay that is run PROFESSIONALLY and without bias...with all relevant camera angles covered>

THIS will never happen as long as that piece of scum is running interference for the owners. This jerkoff actually had replay in effect with ZERO goal line camera shots! He's a lying POS insulated MORON with only one objective, making hsi masters richer, and himself increasingly emperor-like. Say what you want about Vince McMahon but if he was in charge of replay, the backside of a goddyamed ant would be on camera...and twenty freakin' years ago!

NEVER EVER believe anything that emanates from NFL Offices and their spineless lackeys in the press.
