Mark Morse

First things to keep in mind when shaping this roster is a players age and whether or not they are a free agent next year.

Didn't Burkhead play special teams for Cincinatti?

That's a terrible roster...5-11 based on this year's schedule...

The deterioration of the talent base due mostly to Little Billy's amateurish drafting is now on full display without the presence of his security blanket...

Josh Uche is a LB in BB system. Too small for DL at 6'1 and 240

Think I counted 5 UDFAs making the team on this projection, which is high. The guaranteed money provides some level of confidence for a player, but it ultimately comes down to forming the best team. Just ask Andrew Beck and Ralph Webb, who had the most guaranteed money the last couple years. The money for De’Jon Harris and Jake Burt is interesting though.

Overall the numbers at each position look about right. Will have to wait and see if they’re comfortable with 2 QBs on the active roster with a non-Brady team. Also whether they’ll look to add another big at DT. If they go with Owenwu and Woodard as IOL backups, don’t see them being able to sneak Froholdt to the practice squad unless he’s dreadful.

BB will field an excellent football team this year, as usual. The offense will be very multiple, efficient, a bit more versatility than usual (Keene, Vitale etc), and will present a hard-nosed/physical style of play (better TEs, RBs and OL continuity). The defense will hold fort; assuming they acquire at least one more FAT person. The brains/heart-soul/spine of the defense (McCourty, High & Guy) are still intact, and BB is the spirit of the defense. Also, excited about the versatility of Uche, Dugger & Jennings particularly. I expect ST to be at least top 5, assuming Rohrwasser does his job & Bailey continues his excellent play of the previous year.

Record: 10-6

I see Uche as strictly a 3rd down pass rush specialist similar to what he did at Michigan.

The high number of UDFA's is related to the high number of UFA next year. You can't have 28 UFA going into an offseason. I said it right up front, age and UFA status are the big factors.

Really it should be DT and the rest of the front 6. BB mixes and matches 4 players at a time that could be called LB, DE, Edge, OLB,ILB.
And he mixes them in varying proportions.

Not a bad projection. I can see some tough decisions probably had to be made. Why did you get rid of Frojoldt (sp)? Just curious, as I’ve read a few times that he’s a powerful player with a mean streak. Was looking forward to him getting some actual playing time.

I didn’t understand the comment about our Kicker at the end. We’re you implying that he might be cut because of his tat? If we let Gunner go, I hope we can stash him on the PS.

Nice work.

GunShow makes the team this year.

Good Stuff @Mark Morse

RB: Burkhead has been a popular guy to project getting cut, but he keeps coming back from the dead. I agree he's injury prone, doesn't scare any defender when on the field and just isn't worth keeping since drafting Harris.

FB: I agree Jakob Johnson will get the axe as there was nothing impressive about him last year. Him and Vitale will battle it out for that spot.

WR: I'm assuming you left of Lee because you think he's injury prone? Lee is a good WR when healthy, but he can't be relied upon.

DE/LB: Looks like it's the end of the road for Derek Rivers

K: I agree regarding the K. He did the right thing getting rid of that tattoo, but if the media hounds him about it and he's missing kicks...adios!

PART I - SPECIAL TEAMS (7)
You listed 7 special teamers, four under the label ST plus Davis, Bethel and Mulia.
I agree with all but Mulia. King one our top Sters. There is no reason to believe that Mulia would be better. Julia might make the PS as a STer, or not.

I still can not figure out how our defensive line is going to stop the run.

OFFENSE (25)

QB (2) - ok

RB (5) - Burkhead over Taylor.
Bulkhead could be cut for cap room. However he i a valuable players. Also Taylor is PS material.

FB (1) - Vitale is plenty
Most teams don't even have one FB; we don't need two. Besides, Keene is needed as a
We should recall just how much of a need we have at TE.

TE (3) - I agree that we need a TE in addition to Asiasi and Keene. I think that Burt will be on the PS, while Bill give LeCosse a chance after his injuries last year.

WR (5) - We need 5 at most. Given the new PS rules, 4 is probably plenty, but I'll OK with five since WR's will be returners. I would have Meyers/Lee/Hastings/Gunner competing for the last spot, with at least one being on the PS.

OL - (9) - IMO, eight roster spots for eight Game Day active positions doesn't seem right to me.

IMO, we need the additional TBA 4th OT. For now, that would be Eluemunor.

I'm confused about have Woodard on the 53 instead of the PS. Froholdt was drafted to potentially start this year at OG or OC. We had to move ahead of the jets to keep them from drafting him as their starting center. He is certainly good enough to be our backup center.

==========
DEFENSE (21)
I have Davis, Bethel and King (instead of Malula) under special teamers.

DT (4) - ok

DE/EDGE (4) - OK

LB (4) - I have Calhoun over Harris.

CB - OK

S - Ok

============
I suspect that we need another DL, hopefully a DT, or a DE non-EDGE rusher like Wise.

They will keep 3 qbs

Whoever that person who writes those blogs is keeps arguing that he keeps UDFAs based on the signing bonus they have received when there never has been any correlation with that. I think recently I saw @Miguel arguing something similar on Twitter.

Burt's or Hasting's signing bonus means nothing relative to likelihood to make the team. Those are just the costs to get them into camp and have a look.
