Josh Uche was able to learn Patriots defense from Jerod Mayo in 2 minutes

I can think of another Michigan player who didn't get enough playing time.
Really? I thought Shawn Crable had plenty of chances to get more playing time.

Pfft...That's nothing. In 2 minutes I taught my wife the secrets of time effective love making.

I'd be worried about her deciding to, ahem, repay the favor. . . .

Sadly, I did not think josh knows how much he does not know about playing defense for us.

But on a positive note: I love that bb brought mayo in to coach our defense. Best bb move since he begged Dante to come back.
Mayo is going to be a force as a coach for us. And I think guys are going to love playing for him.

Yes O.J. Parcells once said about rookies. "They don't even know what they don't know".

Speaking of which, have we seen Josh Uche's legs yet?

Is this good or does this mean the Pats offense isn't that hard =D

I still have some concerns though about why Uche was still only used in half the snaps this year at Michigan and seen only as a pass rush specialist guy.

.

I can almost guarantee that it was for the same reason that Brady struggled to get reps with at Michigan. Damn donors putting pressure on the coach..

Hope this is accurate. I have high hopes for Uche/Winovich teaming up on the edge.

So everybody is sold on Mayo being our next DC? I think Stephen B is gonna give him a run for his money. Possibly co-DC's or something?

Yea maybe. But which LB got the snaps then at Michigan ?

baby b should run the “x” and “0” part of the defense. Mayo should be guy leading the players, firing up the players and getting them to operate as a cohesive singular unit.

The next DC is going to be Matt Patricia

I don't care if he's albert ****ing einstein, if he could learn it this quickly how are there possibly guys who had years and still couldn't do it?

He learned the basic concepts.

The defense is predicated on reading & recognizing a multitude of formations, tendencies etc. If he can't do that consistently he won't play.

Took me half an hour :(... but I'm older.

HEYOOOOO I kid because I love

Isn't he a pass rush specialist? This is a first person account - in this situation you do this, in that situation you do that... He'd not figuring out a lot of coverage stuff here. He's not learning "the whole defense" in 2 min., he's learning what he does in 2 minutes. Or, the first 2 minutes of it.

I like what I hear about the kid, and hope his play matches his current confidence. I'm sure when he makes a mistake in camp, Belichick will let it slide since he's already learned the defense and all.

DC Don Brown felt he was best as a pass rush guy, and not a run-stopper. Michigan played a couple of teams last year that were overwhelmingly run focused (OSU and UW).

But on the flip side- a lot of U-M fans feel like Brown should have been more flexible with a talent like Uche.
