I just have this hunch watching the guy play that his motor and energy would translate extremely well to the fullback position. Not based on anything other than watching him play on defense, but he seems intelligent, coachable, and very, very physical

It's probably not actually going to happen, but if it did, I have very little doubt that it would work, and not just work, but work brilliantly.

I think we'll be fine at FB with Jakob Johnson. He played well before getting hurt himself. Plus one of the rookie TEs lined up at FB some in college too.

I did like what I saw from Jakob too, except for the whole "immediately got hurt" bit.

Some redundancy at a position that our offense has come to depend rather heavily on isn't a bad thing

I'd just like to see it tried once or twice.

I just don't get it. You want Winovich to play fullback. You want Keene to play fullback.

Most of the league has zero fullbacks on their roster.

We have TWO. We have our Jakob, our backup FB from last year. And we have Vitale, an excellent and experienced FB that was signed this year. Did I miss a transaction? Did we cut our two fullbacks.

Report: Patriots sign fullback Dan Vitale

Winovich at FB? Absolutely not!

Right I forgot about Vitale too.

This idea sucks and you should hope that we find it in our hearts one day to forgive you for bringing it up.

Johnson showed some flashes last year before he got hurt. I'd like to see what he can do next year before Wink lines up back there.

I am a Simpelton. I am used to thinking for myself. It's not much of a brain but it's the only one I've got and I try to use it.

Vitale and Johnson are the fullbacks. If one gets hurt I expect TE Rashod Berry to move up to the 53 (that's if he makes it to the PS).

- Vitale is a quick lighter FB that has some receiving skills...we will need that
- Johnson is a 6'3" 255 LOAD
- Berry has had FB experience in college (he'll never make it as a TE in the NFL)

No reason for Winovich or anyone else to pull double-duty

EDIT: as an aside...it's been mentioned that Johnson is not exempt from counting as one of the 53 this year. Is he even signed for 2020 ?

Hmm. So Wino is being counted on this year to be one of the key guys on defense.
That includes major increase in snaps.
At a position that's a high degree of collisions.
And he only knows one speed: balls to the wall.
So yeah,Simpleton bruh, I'm with ya man.
Makes lotta sense to also use him at one of the highest collision positions on offense. A position he's never played.
Brilliant idea, bruh. Please keep those coming.

He should probably just concentrate on learning his own position and becoming a starter, no?

I wasn’t impressed with Johnson at all but it appears Vitale is the new FB.

“Hey, let’s think of a way to make ourselves worse at two different positions!”

I would like to see Winovich the DE/ LB add about 15 - 20 lbs without losing his quickness.
