Sorry the run was tainted.Actually the greatest baseball game I ever saw was South Carolina - Florida in the 2011 CWS finals. Florida led 1-0 until S.C. tied in the the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the 9th, Florida has bases loaded with no outs. Hit to the drawn in 2nd baseman was one out at home. Then a 4-2-3 double play got them out of it. 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th, Bucky Effing Dent’s son on second. Mike Zunino singles to left, and the Carolina LF throws the spawn of the devil out at home with a perfect strike in the air. Carolina won in the 11th on a horribly tainted run and won their second CWS in a row the next night. Jackie Bradley was on that team (and the 2010 one).
Super sky point to Hendu.
And Buckner.
Great Sox.
Were you worried about the clock? Did you think the Seahawks would score?View attachment 27251 Best game I ever saw in person until Butler's int in Glendale 40 years later........
Yeah as did everybody there, except maybe BB..... Boy did it change in a hurry. There were a pair of Weebles ( wobble but don't fail down) who were talking crap the entire game. As soon as I stopped jumping up and down, I looked for them bu they were gone..Were you worried about the clock? Did you think the Seahawks would score?
The entire media press box was rooting for the Seahawks.Yeah as did everybody there, except maybe BB..... Boy did it change in a hurry. My wife was he one who convinced me to go, " you never know if they'll get back there". couple that with a sister who lived there so I had a place to stay and points for airfare and it was a no brainer, just the cost of a ticket... even when I was offered 4 times what I paid for my seat at game time... No second thoughts..... Got stuck in Atlanta on the way home due to a snowstorm on the East Coast and was never so glad to be stuck. Pats fans with lanyards still around their neck were high fiving each other... in Atlanta...most were pretty hung over or still drunk.. thin line.......!!!The entire media press box was rooting for the Seahawks.
Absolute belief that DefameGate was legitimate and deserved was soaring, as it still soars today despite being totally debunked and the league exposed.
I really liked our defense that season. After Mayo went down, they responded very impressively, communicating with each other and playing with intensity and attention and animation.
That teamwork was highly evident in their preparation leading up to Malcolm's big play.
It was a team effort. I'm happy you got to see it.
One of the greatest moments in sports history.
Not by the umps. Stolen base - catcher throws into center. CF bounces throw into stands trying to get runner at 3rd. Runner walks home. It is college baseball after all. But that South Carolina team could flash the leather.A barnburner. Sorry the run was tainted.
Like Wes Welker, who was lined up to be SB42 MVP before Tyree happened.Nothing lessens Dave's legacy and contribution to Boston sports.
He has a lot of company in guys who made championship plays, that did not lead to a title.
Like Bernie Carbo.
It is wrong to diminish - or as some in the media, like with the initials M.F. [how appropriate is that] - dismiss so many of the greatest Boston teams simply because they did not win it all.
The 1967 Red Sox are in my opinion the most significant team in their history. Led by Yaz, they took it upon themselves to put the Red Sox back on the map, and captured the hearts of New England.
Just like the 1976 New England Patriots.
Gedman was sooooo overmatched. What an amazing stroke of luck that he got hit by the pitch.A strike away from losing the ALCS and won, a strike away from winning the World Series the same year and lost. Damn. But Gedman getting hit by the pitch was key. He was hopeless otherwise against that guy.
I'll show it anywayCarbo's entire AB was amazing. Just showing the HR by itself doesn't do him justice.
Marty Barrett in '86!Like Wes Welker, who was lined up to be SB42 MVP before Tyree happened.
another one that I will always love.
