Just realized he is without a team.
Any value on bringing him in on a minimum contract to at least compete with Hoyer?
He was reportedly our top QB target when we drafted Grap.

IMO

Not with this particular offseason, no. If they had a normal, full offseason to work with him, it might be different.

Look, this is very, very simple.

Jarrett Stidham is the starting QB of the NEP
Brian Hoyer is the backup QB of the NEP.
And we picked up some guys for the practice squad too.

OK? OK. We're all on the same page here. There is no opening on this team for a QB. None. The QB position is full. We are not short a QB. Full up on our quota, the roster is packed, the entire staff is filled, no vacancies, we are complete at the position.

Got it? Got it! OK!

No need to make new threads every time a washed mediocre has-been hits the market at a position we don't need filled. Especially when we have some huge holes at other areas of the roster (FB, TE, LB).

Well, except for the many here who are apparently convinced that Stidham is well on his way to becoming a washed-up mediocre has-been.

New QB coach Jedd Fisch was Bortles' OC in 2014 and assistant OC in 2019. If he thought Bortles was any good, then he'd probably be on the team already.

We've already seen the Patriots add two other guys who have a history with Fisch in Marqise Lee (2014 with the Jaguars) and Devin Asiasi (2016 at Michigan, 2017 at UCLA).

This might actually be a worse idea than the Dalton thing, but I'm not sure...both are so terrible that I'd rather wrap my **** in bacon and jump naked into a pool full of piranhas than think about it.

Replace the GOAT with the BOAT?!

Why?

Waste of a roster spot.

I say sign him. Screw it! It doesn't matter who's at QB because this is BB's team! No one player decides their success. Lose a player? No problem. Plug and play baby! Even losing Tom Brady? No drop off whatsoever because he was only successful due to BB's system/scheme. In fact, Tom won't know what to do with himself without BB. This team will be 12-4 no problem. Maybe even 13-3 because of BB's greatness.
