Interesting comp for N'Keal Harry

Bizarre Pats obsession for some. WR drafting and 2nd round DB's. Pats have probably had the most receiving yards and points in NFL during the Brady era but because they typically pick up veteran WRs on the cheap instead of through the draft this is some sort of issue. They miss on Duke Dawson but nab JC Jackson who is playing at a Pro Bowl level in the same year but this too is a crisis. Is there some sort of draft award that the Pats have been missing out of all these years? Just seems like an incredibly odd thing to continually harp on. We all know that like every team BB makes personnel mistakes. He did again this year (we just don't know who yet) and he will next year as well.

Harry just doesn't seem to have the juice to create his own separation. 90% seems contested in my eyes. His inability to get open last year was a problem.

If he continues to struggle to get open vs DBs in year 2 that will be a horrible sign especially with other WRs taken after him that are already on the path to bright futures

Yeah, at least N'Keal Harry doesn't freelance. He may not be able to get open or do anything productive, but he goes where he's supposed to. It may just take him 3 hours to get there.
Weak

Harry’s tape compared to aj brown and samuel are just different. Those guys play in the best conference in football. I don’t what our coaches saw. It will be interesting to see how harry can create separation. His release could be better and that’s teachable.

He played a total of 220 snaps and had 24 targets.
That’s not an indication of failing to get open by any means.
You are making a damning statement as a proven assumption with noting to back it up but the exact criticism you wish to make.

An example would be for me to say if you can’t stop making stupid posts then people are going to start realizing you don’t know what you are talking about and ignore you.

he drafted very well 2010-2013. He hasn’t drafted well since. Now all those pro bowl talents are old and Brady is gone. We’re left with this team

18 years....nearly 2 decades. Sure you can count a single year of Mitchell, but I omit him because everybody knew of his bad knees. 18 years of futility when it comes to drafting WRs.

It's corn shucking time.

You are not debunking anything. Your claims are certainly no fact when speed differs by way more than those 0.04 sec between different replicated runs. We are not talking a difference of one standard deviation here. Those two times are literally a rounding error away from each other and are for all intents and purposes describe the same tier of speed.

You're only 98.8% correct. Otherwise I would have given you a winner rating.:D

I like this team.

I hope. Another bust WR in the draft would be brutal but he has another year to show something before being labeled a bust. If this upcoming year is the same it's going to piss me off to no end given Metcalf was there...and so many others that look so much better.

But again...give it another year and pray this kid can get seperation..somehow

Ultimately it’s not about how your picks turn out it’s about winning whether it’s because of or in spite of your picks.
All this handwringing and crying over draft picks from a team that has won more games in 20 years than any team ever, won 17 of 19 division titles, gone to 12 of 19 AFCCG, 9 of 19 SBs and won 6 of them is an exercise in idiocy.

If I conceded they are the worst drafting team ever, who gives a ****? They still have more success than anyone ever, so the only argument you could win is the draft must be meaningless.

It's so freaking stupid. The draft haters are like kids on X-mas morning that get everything they want except one toy and spend the rest of the day asking mom and dad for the toy on their birthday.

If BB sucked at evaluating, drafting/signing and developing talent they would not have won 6 Super Bowls. That is an irrefutable fact.

Have they missed on picks and FAs? Of course but the body of work over 20 years tells is a ****load of great/good talent has come through this org.

Every team has hits and misses during the draft, Pats Fans in their myopic view often dwell on what happens in Foxboro while ignoring the rest of the mistakes of other teams..

Consider Cleveland every year we are told they "stockpile talent" or they are "loaded" only to have a mediocre season, the difference is quality and consistent coaching.. most teams do not enjoy that luxury.

Bengals game 3rd quarter 14:00 minutes left. Harry is in the left slot, he gets wide open against zone and Brady dinks it over to the right sideline.

You found one play where he threw to an earlier progression and that’s your proof brady “froze him out”?
It’s ok to just say “sorry I was wrong”

I think he’s going to be more like Anquan Bolden than Mike Williams. I liked the pick then and I like it now. If they can get production out of speedsters like Byrd it will open up opportunities for the rest of their offense, which is built primarily on power. If they don’t get the production out of the downfield threats it’s going to be tough sledding for the rest of the offense, and they will need to fix it next offseason. Overall I think they are in pretty good shape to start their rebuild into a perennial contender. I’m going to enjoy watching this team grow and build the next few years.

But he's fast!

Or San Francisco could have been putting up a smokescreen to bait the Patriots into taking Harry so that Deebo Samuel would drop to them in the 2nd. During the draft lies and mindgames are rather commonplace.

Pointed this out in another thread but SF, apparently has made no secret they really liked Harry. They most likely had Harry WR1 & Deebo WR2.

One of the all time greats can do that. I don’t know if stidham is capable of covering bill’s drafting mistakes. We don’t know that yet.
