Joke of a coach who wouldn't have won **** without Belichick. Was on the phone to the Jets before our Super Bowl against Green Bay. Played Hasan Graham instead of Troy Brown.

Other than being fortunate enough to have the greatest coach of all time as his DC his only other claims to fame are being a douche to his quarterbacks and making a lot of acerbic comments in press conferences.

I definitely put him in the Hall of Fame of thin-skinned hypocrites who love going into a new situation and then bailing to leave others left holding the bag.

He was incredible at that.

...after telling Kraft to his face he would never win a Super Bowl for him.

The way that game was coached and Parcells looking like he didn’t give two craps about winning the AFC Championship game and then losing the Super Bowl were real eyebrow raisers for me.

One of the common defenses you'd read is about how supposedly great he was at rebuilding.

New England - Only made it to the SB once under him which was, TOTALLY COINCIDENTALLY, the year Belichick was added as Assistant HC/DB Coach.
New York - Have made it to zero Super Bowls since he took over their team.
Dallas - Have made it to zero Super Bowls since he took over their team.
Miami - Have made it to zero Super Bowls since he took over their team.

He's a Hall of Fame Fraud.

That's insane? What's the source for that? I'm shocked that I missed it.

It was during the blowup Kraft and Parcells had the morning of the AFCCG. I think it was Shank or McDonough that mentioned it at the time. Might have gone “I’ll never win a Super Bowl for you” or something like that.

There were 4 major steps from mediocrity to dynasty

1) Kraft purchasing the team
2) RK hiring Parcells as coach
3) RK hiring Belichick as coach
4) BB drafting Brady and elevating him to starter

All 4 steps are worthy of HOF recognition, despite the bad taste left as Parcells exited stage right.

I listed them chronologically, but it is also in order of increasing importance.

1 of your steps didn't happen. Ironically, it's the step involving the subject of this thread.

He threw the game. It's right there in front of you. Terrible coaching job. For that he needs to stay out of the Patriots HOF.

I agree, but man looking back at his drafts reminds me what picking high can be like:

1993: Bledsoe, Chris Slade
1994: Willie McGinest
1995: Ty Law, Curtis Martin, Ted Johnson
1996: Lawyer Milloy, Tedy Bruschi, Terry Glenn

While not of the way it ended with Parcells, his "name recognition" combine with a new philosophy with RK and getting a better than average QB helped put the "winning" into New England.

If they continued to perform as poorly as during the Kaim days, we probably would have had a tougher road and wouldn't have been able to build up to the success we have enjoyed since BB/Brady joined the team.

He was good at taking over teams with horrible records and winning some games.

-He took the Pats job in 92 after they went 2-14.
-He took the Jete job in 97 after they went 1-15 (the most talented 1-15 team evah).
-Then I think he took a GM job with Miami.
-He finished his coaching career in Dallas after taking over a 5-11 team.

He never won squat without BB.

I still see Pats fans who want to give him credit for the Pats' turn-around. It makes me sick to think about him negotiating with the Jete while he was coaching the Pats.

Stole Martin too

4 years as coach..... NEP HOF ?

32-32 record.......NEP HOF ?

Lost his defecto GM job after 2 years to Bobby Grier.......NEP HOF ?

Out of one side of his mouth he takes credit for NE signings but out of the other side he moans about not being able to shop for the groceries.... NEP HOF?

His apologists claim he deserves credit for creating NE’s foundation for later success.
“Later” happens to be defined as 5 years and two coaches later. RUFKM

His apologists argue NE should be grateful he brought BB to the franchise. Using this train of thought, I guess Kraft should enshrine Belichick’s agent as well.

Funny how BB, Parcells’ gift to NE, came with shackle bruises and a price tag of a 1st round pick.

Then there’s Fat Tuna’s traitorous Neville Chamberlain re-enactment during NE’s most significant week in more than a decade.
“Let’s celebrate the traitor who fu*%ed this franchise over” ..... NEP HOF?

I don’t get the loyalty to this guy. Fat Tuna was an opportunist extraordinaire who had a nice run with Bledsoe and then sniffed out a better paying gig with the biggest rival.

Personally, I give Bledsoe the majority of credit for righting the NE ship. Fat Tuna certainly added some gravitas but Drew’s arm lifted the franchise out of plodding mediocrity and into the era of aerial-assault offensive football.... a must see experience.
I will always refer to Gillette Stadium as The House That Drew Built

Parcels was a net negative

No sorry I disagree. Parcells doesn't get in because of the way he left. That's an unforgettable and unforgivable part of the puzzle too.

Belichick was the reason Parcells has any rings.

Well at least now he can shop for his own groceries at the Big Wah market.

Grier was GM in ‘95 and ‘96.... hence the “cook food buy groceries” quote

I agree I think the Parcells tenure showed Kraft what he wanted & did not want in a coach. I believe in the book Patriots Reign it talks about how Kraft had a genuine curiosity for football strategy from the coaches perspective & BB was more than happy to shoot the breeze with him.
