"Useful" is pretty straight-laced. "Interesting" (and to an extent, "Genius") both have more room for being used sarcastically.

Yeah, I got the sarcastic angle on "interesting" but then I remembered that Ian was surprised a few months back that people were using "Genius" in sarcastic ways. So I just assumed that the same sentiment still applied about others and we should take all of them at face value.

Im weird, but i don't like the sentiment behind "disliking" messages that you don't agree with.

We shouldn't be offended by disagreements...

What about ratings on a message board? ;)

Dislike, to me anyway, has never been synonymous with mere disagreement.

It usually means

"My God, man, use your brain! Your point is so bat-sh!t crazy that I am sure that even you wouldn't agree with it, if you thought things through, but you are posting it to get some smug satisfaction by getting us more thoughtful folks all riled up!"

Huh. I've been using "Useful" with sarcastic intent, when someone posts something so random and personal that it couldn't possibly improve the thread conversation.

I think we need a sarcasm modifier, to be put in front of any emoji to indicate a sarcastic tone of voice. That'll liberate us from wondering and misinterpretation.

So whats the difference between interesting and useful ?

I guess the Sarcastic Genius will have to be my substitute for sarcastic Interesting.

The Confused icon is dropped, no Surprised icon is added, but other redundant ones are?

Fail.

Can we get a corn shucking icon?

@Ian, can you rearrange the responses from positive to negative...or vice versa. When using my smartphone...my thumb would hit thumbs down when trying to press thumbs up a lot....

I just put the "Agree" in between the Like/Dislike, which now puts the "Dislike" next to "Maybe Not..."

Hopefully that makes a little more sense and will also make it easier to not accidentally "dislike" a post, as I've done that myself a few times ;)

@Ian when do you think we can get an Instagram dog filter for our posts?

Just saw the Surprised icon...Thanks!

Its not the point who gets offended or not, its the underlying sentiment between using disliking as disagreeing.

very minor, but has been on my mind lately

I have very rarely used "dislike" and only then when the tone of the posting is vitriolic. I do not use it over a simple disagreement.
