I wanted to start a thread on the Packers and what people think is going on with Rodgers and the Packers. It seems Matt LaFleur and the GM have had it with Rodgers passive-aggressiveness and have decided Love will be the QB most likely when Rodgers contract runs out if not sooner.

I do not see Rodgers handling this like Brady did with Jimmy G. and using it as motivation as he already believes he walks on water. I wonder if he requests a trade after this season?

How does everyone see this situation progressing?

They cannot cut/trade Rodgers...the cap hit would be massive......I think the Pack will be just fine the next 2 years at least...and when Love nears the end of his rookie deal...I think we are gonna see something.

  1. $51,148,000 against the cap if cut loose this year
  2. $31,556,000 against the cap if cut loose next year
  3. $17,204,000 against the cap if cut loose the following year, with $22,648,000 in cap savings

So he's likely to be the Packers' starting QB for at least the next two seasons.

I am not sure the money matters if they get an unmotivated Rodgers. They literally did nothing to improve the offense for him other than drafting a RB.

As @Hyped has written. The Packers are more or less stuck with Rodgers for the next 2 years given the cap hits. He has most of the leverage in this situation.

Seems like they were trying to copy the timing since it did seem to motivate Brady .

The weird part was how they traded up for the guy. It will be funny to see him crap out if there is a preseason.

They drafted the TE Josiah Deguara in round 3, and they went OL 3 times in the 6th round. What they didn't do was draft a WR.

I was on some of their forums and many of their fans considered this their worst draft ever. Probably some hyperbole there but for a team that was 13-3 and in the NFCCG it sure seems like they punted on this season. Perhaps there were more issues between Matt L and Rodgers then anyone knew about.

Powder keg.

GB drafted a RB in the mold of Derrick Henry. Dillon is a 6 - 0 250 lb bruiser. Lafleur wants to run the ball.

Will Dillon help Roger's throw? I believe that Rogrers wanted a WR there.

And in doing so spent draft capital on a player who will take Jones off the field presumably.

Love gets two years to learn. Then, the team can choose whether to stay with Rodgers at over $30M a year ($25M plus $11M 2022 option bonus).

If Love doesn't look good, they can try again next year, and the year after that.

I like the packers plan better than that of the patriots, who IMO waited too long to draft a POTENTIAL replacement for Brady.

It's interesting that Rodgers wanted a different HC and the guy they got is really not a fit for what Rodgers does compared to McCarthy.

I just had to search exactly what a passive aggressive relationship was.

I read an article about 10 signs of a p/a person and it each number gave 5 or 6 traits to look for so in the end there is 50 or more personality quirks to look out for.

For 2nd year HC Matt LaFleur it doesnt seem like ARod is worth the headaches and drama.

They drafted JAG in 2014. Other than Prescott, who was taken one round later than Brissett, and Jackson, who required a complete team overhaul, who have they really missed?

The best of all time is about to become a Patriot in the near future.

If Rodgers truly wants out, is there a way he could reduce his dead money hit?

I rag on BB for horrible drafting, but GB has been at a completely different level of wasting a talent like Rodgers.

GB’s thought process is funny.

“We want to run the ball”.

That’s great, but what are going to do when it doesn’t work?

I don't like the move either, but I also think they were an overrated 13-3 team that has little to no chance of getting to that record again this year. It's not like drafting a WR in the 1st round would put them over the top.
