Breaking Down the Patriots Undrafted Free Agent Class and Some Thoughts on Why the Patriots Didn't Draft a Receiver

Mark Morse

Ten new draft picks and many more Undrafted Free Agents (UDFAs) will be making their way to New England. I also now understand why the Patriots didn't draft a receiver.

I agree...I think TE Berry has FB written all over him. Lots of info in the article.

Thanks for this run down....been reading many scattered details all over the place concerning our UDFA class...

Hope the Pats announce it officially soon...

It’s funny how the writer says JJ Taylor reminds him of a “mini” Mack Herron when Taylor is actually a bigger back than Herron

I think the key was his use of quotes. The article had it as “Mini” Mack Herron, so I took it as being used as his nickname.

Eh, I get your point but that still doesn’t change the fact that Taylor’s bigger than Herron; meaning he can’t be a “mini” version of him.

IMO, this UDFA class has a lot of interesting, high upside players players. Bryant is a little bit different because his size and relative lack of speed limit his upside but he is a really good, versatile player. A couple of my friends are big Huskies fans and they both love him. 4.62 time in the 40 at 5'8" likely lead to him going undrafted and he never had the opportunity to improve his time at the Washington Pro Day.

There is a lot to like, as shown in this highlight video....fearless tackler, uses good technique (tackling and pass breakups) and is an effective blitz option. The Patriots crowded defensive backfield will make it tough for an undrafted rookie to crack the 53, but he would be an excellent PS addition.

lso this:

Meet Myles Bryant, Washington's do-it-all DB prospect

JM: Who are some of the best players you’ve competed against?

MB: N’Keal Harry from Arizona State was a good one. Saquon Barkley is of course a special talent. I played against him at Penn State. J.J. Taylor from Arizona was a good one. Those are the ones that stick out to me right now.

I hope Will who was originally a walk-on kicker makes the team just so BB can use him for a emergency FG to win a game.
