I’m going to miss Brady but I have become really excited about Stidham

Players win games. Coaches lose them.

I don’t think stidham has what it takes to win games

Brady wasn't one of the best quarterbacks in the league last year but people assume that Stidham won't be worse than Brady was. The reality is that Stidham is a huge question mark we know nothing about and the balance of probability for a 4th round draft pick is that he's more likely to be one of the worst starting QBs in the league than one of the best.

The Patriots don't really have the skill players to make up for that; I think Brady is fading but I also think the bleak skill around him didn't help. It's unlikely because they still have Edelman and White and McDaniels is a good coach, but they could legitimately have the worst offense in football this season. That's within the range of possible outcomes for this season. Remember the Curtis Painter Colts? And that team had Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, and Dallas Clark!

I think this is fair and not overly negative. The one wildcard here is the health of the OL, FB, and TE's. If we have just decent health this year, it will be huge for Stidham's development. If we have a repeat of last year's injuries, the kid doesn't stand a chance.

IMO, 7.5 is EXACTLY right for now.

The betting lines are at 8.5 because they add one game for Belichick and the rest of the staff doing magic, probably in their acquisitions, but also in their coaching. For example, we could have Newton and Jeffreys by week's end, or a different pair.

Yeah it’s not like a team can win more than 2 games with an ordinary passing offense and a great defense and coach. Oh wait.

The salt and sour grapes I’m reading here over the QB with the 78 passer rating since October playing somewhere else next year really is comical.
the salt comes from you hanging on to that since October passing rating like it some kind of drop the mic winning stat of the century. All I see is a person so dug in that they wont consider anything other than their own biased assumptions

It is actually significant. Makes one wonder would have happened this season if he stayed here and not much else on the offense changed.

you mean if he came back to the ssme inadequate offense he had to work with last year? Jesus.

I keep reading that the offense right now is inadequate so....

Stridham? I miss something?

Stidham has a good arm and can look good with a clean pocket. The biggest issue is he has zero composure or poise under pressure or big games. Look at preseason game4. Look at his Auburn games. He looks great in a clean pocket and is a turnover machine under pass rush pressure or in the 2minute drill.

That can be taught.
I trust BB and Josh and staff to tech this kid mental toughness.
If not he will be replaced.

It's like with Garoppolo. He had a rep for zero clutchness in college too and small school. Polish him up to look like a starting QB but JimmyG folded in the 4th quarter against the chiefs. Having said all this I'm fine with Stidham and no drafted QB. I just have concerns about ever relying on this kid in the 4th quarter. He never came through in HS to win state and folded in college multiple times too. Great arm though.

He's got the best coaching staff to get him to the next level.
If he will become clutch we are his best spot.

If our guys are healthier than they were last year then that will help. The problem is you have no argument other then a cold statistic. If you can't see the problem with basing a conclusion on that then I'm wasting my time....with you anyway. Other peole see right through you though.

He doesn't have to win them. We are going to be a run heavy team, which part of that do you find so confusing?

BB not looking to replicate the 2007 Pats offense. Think 2001.

I mean, everything could go right, but anyone assuming it will is basking in the afterglow of the Brady era. I sure hope everything clicks but if it wasn't for the Patriots mystique we'd all be looking at this roster and saying "Yikes."

That said, it'll be exciting to see what happens...

Why not?

Devil's Advocate...

Yes his soph year. He had like 2 good games his soph year. I've seen all the videos. What happened his college 3rd year ? Also preseason game4 just 9 months ago, super shaky under any pass pressure.

Who is Stridham?

I agree if he had to come back to an injured Edelman, injured Sanu, injured Harry, injured Gunner, injured Wynn, injured Andrews, injured Mason, injured Develin......

I don’t understand the turnover machine comment, he had 13 interceptions in 3 college seasons.
