I’m about 6 years younger than Brady so like many my age Tom Brady was not just a football player he was inspiring, a guy who came from no where and turned himself into the best QB in the NFL. I will always be a fan of Brady, and I will follow him in Tampa.

That said, I have followed Stidham in Instagram for a while. He is a good guy, has a smoking hot wife whose father is the CEO of the Rockets and despite them both being good looking and wealthy they’re both humble and pleasant people. They seem to spend a lot of time with David Andrews and his wife, another grounded couple.

So I like Stidham the man, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about him as a QB, so I held out judgement until the draft, I wanted to see how committed we were to him. Today I watched the film on Stidham from preseason, I will tell you what he makes throws that Brady does not make, the ball comes out as and clean, and he seems to have a good decision making. I encourage everyone to watch the video of his throws if they haven’t already. You will be impressed -

You didn’t mention how countless players touted his improvement towards the end of the year. Belichick obviously saw it as well. My prediction is that people are going to be wowed by his performance.

Excited to watch Brian Hoyer lead this team to just enough wins to miss out on Trevor Lawrence after Stidham gets benched.

Sure and everyone's favorite dog to kick, Jordan Richards, was an excellent practice player.

You had me at "smoking hot wife"

I like Stid the kid and Stid Vicious. Idk if you’ll get better than that.

I'll be rooting for him since he's wearing a pats jersey, but I need to see him play more *and play well* before I become excited about him.

True but he wasn’t a skill player. I get what you’re saying, though. Just trying to be optimistic. Also, Garoppolo was a **** practice player but he turned out well.

Lawrence is a pipe dream. I see zero reasons to think the Patriots would be a 1 or 2 win team next year. That’s what it will take.

I'm totally on team Stidham, but paradoxically the one thing that made me nervous about him was this over the top statement from Stephon Gilmore:

"Definitely made it hard on me in practice each and every week, going against whoever I was covering, making some great throws. It allowed me to get better in practice to prepare for the games.”

That sounds like a hostage video with Bill holding a gun to his head.

yea same zero reasons

Curran's take:
... at this time last year, the skinny on Stidham was that he regressed in his last year at Auburn because of the scheme and lack of talent around him.

The Patriots got a quarterback with as much arm talent as anyone in the draft, a kid who would have been a first-rounder if he came out in 2018. He was a depressed asset and the Patriots may have gotten a steal. That’s what we were all saying a year ago. Don’t deny it.

Yeah it’s not like a team can win more than 2 games with an ordinary passing offense and a great defense and coach. Oh wait.

The salt and sour grapes I’m reading here over the QB with the 78 passer rating since October playing somewhere else next year really is comical.

Brady wasn't one of the best quarterbacks in the league last year but people assume that Stidham won't be worse than Brady was. The reality is that Stidham is a huge question mark we know nothing about and the balance of probability for a 4th round draft pick is that he's more likely to be one of the worst starting QBs in the league than one of the best.

The Patriots don't really have the skill players to make up for that; I think Brady is fading but I also think the bleak skill around him didn't help. It's unlikely because they still have Edelman and White and McDaniels is a good coach, but they could legitimately have the worst offense in football this season. That's within the range of possible outcomes for this season. Remember the Curtis Painter Colts? And that team had Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, and Dallas Clark!

Stidham is definitely an unknown and yeah odds are better than not that he will not be very good. But this offense won’t ask him to do what Brady did imo. Just like the reins on Brady himself in 2001. It will be the run game and a strong defense like it was that year.

I am excited to see the running game which incinerated the league at the end of 2018 come back. They were not close to healthy last year and now I believe they are.

True re Painter and it didn’t help them either that their coach was a lifetime .300 coach in college. Not very good. We have BB.

I feel sorry for you having to deal with all of your own negativity.... It must be terrible to get up every day just knowing how everything that can possibly go wrong probably will...

Just curious. As the team is currently structured, where do you think the over/under for wins should be set?

If I remember correctly JS4 had good chemistry with Meyers unlike TB12.
