9-7 - Possible wildcard team. Here's my current gut feeling for each game, in a made up schedule according to our opponents. BB will grind wins out where possible while some offences will be just too much for ours to keep up with.

Sept
Bills - W 17-14
@ Chargers - W 20-17
Broncos - W 14-10
Ravens - L 30-14

October
@ Dolphins - L 20-17
Raiders - W 27-17
@Rams - L 24-10
Jets - W 20-7

November
@ Seahawks - L 33-17
@ Bills L 27-20
BYE
Cardinals W 30-10

December
@Texans - W 27-24
49ers - L 13-10
@Chiefs L 35-17
@ Jets - W 27-20
Dolphins - W 20-10

Seems reasonable. Tough schedule there too with 3 road games and back to back in December. September looks rough too with a coast trip and right back again.

Only games where I don’t see us competing are the KC game and Seahawks and in Buffalo. I think we can hang with the Ravens. I think we get rolled by the Bills there but beat them here.

Yeah definitely.. I think a lot of it will come down to when we play some of these teams, when the real schedule is out.
For example Ravens week 1 could be a struggle but if its later in the season Stidham and the kids may be starting to figure things out and we could give them a good game.

Dolphins,Jest and Bills...
Hmm....
SUPERBOWL BABY!!!!!

Some people are going to be surprised when we go 11-5 and make the playoffs.

If by "some people", you mean "Just about every human being on the planet", you're right.

LOL at these playoff predictions

you need good coaching, talent, and a good QB to have a winning record in the nfl. We only have 1 of the 3

6-10. Offense ranks near league worst in almost every category

Imagine disliking Slater and McCourty. Smdh.

I wish they had let D Mac walk and replaced him with a rookie and kept Brady and had some cap space left. They were willing to give Brady $23m and let him walk rather than give him 2 yr $50m guaranteed plus incentives and instead gave DMac $12.5m. I honestly think this is stupidity. If we didn’t have money for both, to me it’s self-evident they kept Brady.

Since 93.

2001 patriots? The NFL was a lot different 19 years ago. And Stidham will never ever be Tom Brady. I don’t consider him a good NFL starter at all.

I'm with ya bro. Screw these people can't or won't see into the future...tired of this. Clearly his 4 career pass attempts prove he is a bum.

Hilarious isn’t it.

How did Brady do in 2000? Lol

I think the problem we have this upcoming season is a tougher than normal schedule. Not only do we have an improved division, but also face the 3 best teams in the league vs 49ers, vs Ravens, and @ KC, and some other tough outs @Sea, @Rams, @ Texans.

The key will be if we can go 4-2 vs AFC East: split Mia & Buf, sweep Jets. I think we'll beat the Broncos, Raiders & Cardinals at home, but lose to the Ravens & 49ers at home. We'll lose @ KC, @ Seattle, and @ Houston, but win @ LA Chargers and @ LA Rams. So that's 9-7, +/- one game, so our range is 8-8 to 10-6. We're a borderline playoff team at this point.

Longer range, I think we'll be back atop the division in 2021.

No one ever answers this question when I ask it. wonder why.

Look at last seasons 12-4 record. How many of the 12 wins would be losses with an average QB.

The other side of the coin is how the 12-4 would have gone the other way with just an average defense.

The point being people are acting like this was a 4-12 team disguised as a 12-4 team because of the QB and that just doesn’t bear up to analysis.

Some people are going to be surprised when we go 11-5 and make the playoffs.

I won't be. I just want to know which QB Belichick will bring in to make that happen.

This year the team will be a running team first, heavy dose of Sony, and play smart savvy D, just like 01. I can see them going 11-5 05 5-11. Obviously I hope it's the first, it should be interesting to see. I am willing to give Stidham the benefit of the doubt and actually can see him doing better than average. However we still need at least 2 more play makers on O, not sure where we will get them from though !

Sounds great. So, all our opponents put a extra player in the box, forcing Stidham to win with the passing game.

One thing we're all going to have to start living with is the passing of the Patriots mystique. Teams are not going to be as intimidated of the Patriots as they used to be, and they're not going to be making any more colossal self-inflicted mistakes.

Gone are the glory days of the butt fumble and the fake punt.

With Belichick here so is much of the mystique and aura imo.

And the buttfumble will never go away :)
The Patriots might actually be a trap game if other teams focus on Brady leaving as much as some fans are, and overlook that Belichick is still here.

The Patriots mystique will be eroded in other teams’ minds because Brady has gone. Belichick’s mystique will not be as impactful to other teams, because he is right when he says that players win games, coaches lose them.

But Belichick’s mystique will still be strong inside the locker room. The players he has there will respond to it, and he will bring out the best in them.

That is why I expect this team to surprise many of the doubters. It may not be as dominant as we’ve come to expect, although I’m not going to rule that out if they all overachieve enough, but I expect it will be a lot more competitive than many posts in this thread suggest.

In the past Brady made everyone around him better. I think Belichick does the same, getting players to perform better than anyone expects they can. The two of them together was a force multiplier that created the greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen.

Last year Brady didn’t do that. More than anything else I think that’s why the team let him go. Now the question is whether Belichick can work that magic without Brady. It’s my opinion that he can, but not as strongly as when they were both doing it. We will see if he can, and how well. But he will have to do it without the same fear factor from other teams that was there in years past, at least at first.

That would be awesome. It will be pretty easy for a young qb to play well if all he sees is an 8 man box.

And some people will be surprised when they see normally calm King BB make faces, throw his hands in the air, and spike the tablet, after Stidham makes one stupid mistake after another.
Would you care to elaborate on why you're so sure that Stidham will make one stupid mistake after another? Clarvoyance? A Magic Eight Ball?
