Not gonna happen.

Hoping it doesn’t happen. I wish Cam and his mammoth personality the very best elsewhere.

Makes sense, if Thuney is moved

I like it for the sole reason that it buys Stidham extra time, and this offense will need someone who can make something happen with limited options.

This offense is currently built to grind out yards and possessions, and allow the D to hold them in it long enough. If Cam is healthy, he can really succeed at winning a few drives a game by himself.

Plus, if it goes well, we win the comp pick game again.

I don’t see the downside. We can make the dollars work. There is no one else on the market that has the capacity to elevate the team as much as a healthy Cam can.

Can he play receiver?

providing the money works, there’s little downside unless you think Stidham is legit. But if you’re not sold on Stidham, Cam is healthy and the money can work, it makes a lot of sense.

Edit: And I like your point about how Cam helps in the running game.

I am on team Stidham....but I wouldn't hate this. It is another Auburn QB who won the national title...and played in a SB even! Potential bum shoulder...and slower legs...but looking real good in at home workouts recently. Guy is only 30....and 4 seasons removed from a MVP season.... my only thing is economics....we would need to create 20-24M of cap room for him and our draft picks.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind it. I think Stud-arm has potential and would like to see what he could do, but if Newton came here I’d be okay with it. Three reasons:

1) Gives Stud extra time to develop; although that could backfire.
2) BB is okay with it.
3) He’s talented.

Doubt it happens though..

Honestly looking at the kind of offense we are putting together and the build of the o line we drafted I was thinking this looks like a Cam Newton destination but instantly threw it out of my mind.
Now could we sign Cam and use his as a Taysom Hill package QB yes yes we could.

Headscarves are out of vogue, so of course not...

When the odds are that high, it often means somebody knows something.

We signed Tebow, so less probable things have happened.

Exactly. One of the rare cases where the "if there is smoke there is fire" nonsense actually applies.

How much will I win if I put a $1000 dollars on Pats don't sign him and I'm right?

Aren't we in salary cap hell right now? How would signing him be possible?

1) $25M of cap room is readily available through trading Thuney, and restructuring Gilmore, Mason and Cannon.

2) McCourty's 2020 cap is $5.4M. Newton's could be anywhere between $5M and $10M.

A lot of unknown at the QB position. You know what you’re getting with cam though. Never been a huge fan, I think he’s an average passer at best, but his mobility could help a lot if edleman and sanu show age.
