Boston TE Party, 2.0

I think these two guys are definitely something we should be excited about for the future. Belichick obviously likes both of them so that gives me a lot of confidence.

I do think we need to be realistic with our expectations for these guys in 2020 though. Historically rookie TE’s almost never have big production and take time to develop. Over the past 17 years only 2 rookie TE’s have produced more than 600 receiving yards their first season.

Both of these guys are gonna take a year to develop so I think we should still look to add a veteran starter. If we can free up some cap space for someone like Delanie Walker I think it would be the perfect situation to slowly integrate these guys into the offense in 2020 then let them loose in 2021. Hopefully these guys can develop with Stidham and be the foundation of our offense for the next 7-8 years.

what would be cool is if neither of them kill a guy

Out of all of our draft picks, I’m most excited by our two TEs that we drafted. I think they are both talented. Would I have preferred Cole Kmet and Adam Trautman to these guys, 100% yes.

But, it’s obvious Belichick and his staff felt these were better players. And I’m excited about them because our two TE offense is pretty unstoppable. It was during the Gronk/Hernandez days (when both were healthy) and the 8 games of Gronk/Bennett. Not saying these guys can be those guys, but they certainly are talented, can catch the ball, and block. I read somewhere that Asiasi didn’t have ONE drop last year.

frack, 13 got there first

Had to pick this thread to be right about something on...

Incredible stat if true that Asiasi had zero drops all year. Like the new kicker who was a perfect 14/14 in 4th quarter or OTs of games

.

BB's setting up for a run next year, let Stidham get his feet under him and load up next year. Still 10-11 wins this year though, we got a good D.

The worst thing the Patriots could do is have Stidham attempt to be Brady; I don't want that. Let Stidham develop his way of playing QB and hopefully, take us along for an enjoyable ride.

The only people in New England that shouldn't like the picks are Izzo and LaCosse.

No question the two kids will make the team.

I think Izzo has PS eligibility. No sure about LaCosse.

It's a little scary how much we're relying on TE and linebacker rookies though
I don't disagree but I feel that's why I think got 2 TEs who can definitely at the very least block well. If it takes a season to develop as pass catching threats fine..at least get them out there pushing guys around. Everything I read and see though is both these guys are great route runners and Asiasi is as reliable as they come in catching the ball up the seams. Both willing and violent blockers.

Reading up on them gives me wood...that's how depraved we were of good TE production last year.

I’m guessing OP is referencing Gronk/Hernandez there is 0.0% chance these two have that kind of impact.... maybe somewhere Halfway between our 2019 TE production and the Gronk/Hernandez years ?

Anything as improvement is better. We need to operate from under center. Keep the defense guessing. No more shotgun except 3rd and long.

I love the two headed TE monster. Makes the offense completely unpredictable and extremely dangerous if these kids can pan out.

So, the 2 TE offense was pretty unstoppable with Brady, Gronk and a very good 2nd TE.
I agree. THEREFORE, our 2 TE offense will be pretty unstoppable with Stidham, Asiasi and Keene. NOT

I'm a lot more excited by the potential of what these 2 TE could be and the potential 2 TE offense, 100x more than trying to go for some stupid spread WR shotgun offense.

.

And two more TEs on the UDFA list. I’d say Izzo and LaCosse don’t have much job security.

Let's give it a year to be sure we're not looking at another David Thomas/Garrett Mills situation.
