Meanwhile, over at ESPN, if it bleeds, it leads...

This is what happens when they try to make the NFL draft a prime time viewing event. They’re trying to get casual viewers to watch, knowing that the true NFL junkies are watching regardless.

This is identical to prime time Olympics coverage in the US. And the worst thing is that it works which is why the Olympics continue to do it.

Izzo's fine. Great run blocking TE and he got a bit involved as a pass catcher last year.

LaCosse sucks cut him
LaCosse is a decent receiving TE when healthy (which is almost never). Haven’t seen much from him as a blocker. Izzo is a decent blocker, willing to see more from him since he’s cheap.

IF is the key with this offense

  • IF Edelman and Sanu are healthy and largely the same as they were pre-injury
  • IF the OL injuries are healed and everyone is 100% moving forward
  • IF Michel's knee gets better and holds up
  • IF the TEs don't suck
  • IF Stidham is veteran level in his first year as a starter

Im pretty sure Ive seen Izzo get blown up on some plays

I think he's a JAG.

He’s probably a JAG but he’s paid like a JAG so it’s fine. If he’s the third TE I’m fine with that.

Not happening. I’ve been here 11 years and contribute money to the forum. I have the right to my opinion

And with all due respect, man, you'd think a guy who's been on this board for 11 years would be a lot more knowledgeable about NFL football.
You and iapatsfan keep whining about wrs.
Ok we have basically a rookie QB stepping in. How do you put him in the best situation to maximize his success?
And not have him get beaten senseless?
In order of importance, #1 BY FAR, is a strong ol that can run block and protect the qb.
Done.
#2 strong running game-especially if it's paired with a strong defense, which we have.
#3 te position. This was the biggest need position on the team. Not wr.
Done.
Wrs are still the least important position on offense. A guard like Thuney is more valuable than a probowl wr, especially to an inexperienced QB.
Not saying wrs are not important, they're just less important than the other positions on offense.
If Stid is getting hammered play after play, doesn't matter who your wrs are- he could have Julio Jones and Michael Thomas- he's not getting the ball to him.
NFL defenses are sophisticated. He's not.
Neither was Brady his first couple years.( though due to his incredible competitive nature and work ethic he got there quicker than most).
Stidham needs a running game to take pressure off him. That sets up play action which is one of the easiest things for a young QB to have success with.
A strong ol to give him time. Go through his progressions.
A defense to keep opponent scoring down which in turn, keeps pressure off Stidham. Edelman can still get open.
Harry will be better this year. How much remains to be seen. On paper, a pair of competent tes.
Plus the wr picture is not complete.
There will be udfas, possible trades, guys get cut.
Belichick addressed the biggest needs in the draft.
It's a starting point.
We also don't know how good Stidham can be. Makes no sense to invest big $ in wrs if your QB is a stiff.
If all goes well, next year would be the time for that.

Through the first 4 weeks last season Izzo ranked DFL in run blocking. Try again.

KJ Hill broke David Bostons record at OSU and he did it steroid free.

I liked Izzo but I think we'll find out if he was one of those on the outside of Tom's Circle of Trust quick

WR is the least important as long as your WRs can meet some minimum criteria....like being able to get open. You can't run the ball with everybody in the box.

CHI - Lachavious Simmons - G - Tenn St.

There's been a lot of rumbling during this draft about Rodgers not having any weapons

I'd trade their skill guys straight up for ours in a heartbeat.
