That was more about who was in front of him. In his first NFL game he caught 8/98.
In the playoff game his rookie year when Edelman was hurt he caught 10/103 and 2 TDS.
If needed he was able to contribute more than 95% of late round WR draft choices.

Edelman was not ready to play WR when drafted.

It took NE 4 years to develop Edelman into a WR.

2010 - 15 games he had 14 targets
2011 - 13 games he had 9 targets

NE needs an NFL WR today not when Stidham signs his next contract and BB retires.
If we don't add anyone else:
- we still have Edelman
- N'Keal will be a presence this year
- Sanu will be much better
- Meyers is a keeper
- Byrd had a solid season last year with 32 catches, he could emerge
- we have some TE's now that look legit.

That’s 9 out of probably 400 drafted so like a blind squirrel finding a nut.

You forgot Edelman.

He forgot a lot of players but he's also basically braindead so you have to cut him some slack. I mean last year alone - a bad WR draft! - you have Darius Slayton and Hunter Renfrow in the 5th round and Kelvin Harmon in the 6th. Dede Westbrook and Josh Reynolds in the 4th and Trent Taylor in the 6th in 2017. Yes, the draft is basically 4 rounds deep and after that it's just winging darts at a board but sometimes good players can be found there!

Should have avoided the thread/topic/posted. Now I will just delete them and move on

How did he catch 8/98 yards in week 2?
You know what, never mind. I should have known better than to inject thought into this thread.

Inject foolishness.

The Pats were not stocked at WR in 2009. Aiken, Tate, Stanback, Galloway. Edelman plays outside WR today. If he was ready in 2009 he could have helped the Pats more than he did. No more lies

Have you been drinking bleach? They had two of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the league that year who together caught 200 balls and Edelman filled in when Welker was hurt and as a sub package guy.

Catching 8 passes for 98 yards in week 2 of your rookie season = came in the league not ready to play WR. Why can’t you see that?

What boy?

Edelman was developed into a WR. He did not enter the NFL with that skill set you dumb MF.

I still like Gunnar O to become Edleman's replacement in a year or 2.

Yes, and so was Matt Jones, but like Edelman nobody questioned whether he was drafted as a WR or QB.

Great OP.

I stopped caring so much about the Draft because, in the end, we can never predict who we'll be good and who the Pats are going to get.

I don't care if He's division 1 or 2, if his coaches are BFFs with BB or whatever. Give me something on the field and Ill judge

At this point it's going to take a few years to catch up to where Baltimore and KC are at. I'm just happy with the influx of youth on the defense, particularly with Dugger, Jennings, and Uche. The offense is what I'm disappointed in so far. Would have liked a receiver early on.

Let me see what Ravens and Chiefs have. Oh yeah. The 2 best QBs in AFC. Well. To catch up to the
we need a QB. But we gave ours away. You know, the one that beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead in AFCCG 15 months ago.

Why did you skip his rookie season when he was targeted 54 times for 37 catches. Not to mention 8 times for 6 catches in their only playoff game. In his very first game as a pro he had 8 catches for 98 yards. When he had to step in for Welker (after Welker blew out his knee) in the last game of the regular season he had 10 catches for 103 yards.

The idea that he needed years of development is beyond stupid. He was held down by a combination of a few unfortunate injuries and being behind Welker in the depth chart.

You're quite simply an idiot.
