There is no such thing as a "can't miss" at #23 regardless.
You can call it whatever you want, the same exact level of talent won't be available. They've taken the ponies over the horse approach.

Your argument is he's a can't miss prospect. I disagree. Plus if you read some of the scouting reports Murray is a questionable system fit so regardless if he is a can't miss prospect or not, clearly NE didn't think he was a great fit for their system.

Not trying to collect talent but build a team.

Some names to watch with the next pick - Fotu, Raekown Davis, Tee Higgins, Swift, KJ Hamler, and Epenesa. Personally, I would love to see them grab Davis and would not mind Fotu either. I think that's the top need on the team. My personal hope on day 2-3 (if he's still available) is Hamler. Just an absolute burner that would fit into this offense like a glove. Higgins is nice, too, but his route tree is limited and it's harder to get a handle on him because he frequently beat up on scrubs in the ACC.

The draft isn't a spectator sport for 1 thing. It's not to entertain us. I can't even count how many times over the years I've waited around or stayed up to see who they're going to pick at a certain spot, only to see it traded. Dozens.

Always picking in the low 20's or 30's, we're used to having nobody on the board with a 1st round grade in their opinion, so they often trade out or attempt to. We're fortunate there was a trading partner if they felt this way; look at Atlanta last night who wanted to trade down from 16 but couldn't find a suitor.

In this case we just manufactured a high 3rd rounder out of thin air, and all it cost us is that the guy we get at 37 is only say 95% of the guy we could have gotten at 23.
All true. Also the first rounder gets paid more. The difference easily can mean keeping a vet role player or not. The great thing is BB really doesn't look at pedigree. Whoever can fill the role at an appropriate cost will stick. If that means a vet beats out a rookie that he just picked, so be it.

With all the ****ing holes weve got, Bill is going with the bucket of roofing sealant approach vs tube of super glue. Now we need to pray some of them stick. If we have another supremely dud draft w/o #12, it could be a loooooong year.
Yes, it will be a long year. We will have a QB who has never started a game before. We have let many of the vets we had walk, especially on defense. People are going to get to know what a losing NE season looks like. Many will bail. So be it.

1. I think that is sarcasm
2. You are clearly missing the point.
3. You have ignored subsequent posts in which I conclude we couldn’t have done any better
4. You clearly don’t know my posting on here and where I stand on the whole BB the GM thing.
Sorry, yes, I did missed any sarcasm and did not take posting history into account. After being up till midnight to watch the inevitable trade down my brain may not be fully engaged yet.

5-11 coming soon! Enjoy!
It'll make the eventually successful rebuild that much more satisfying, right?

How is he a questionable system fit? ILB is ILB. Every ILB has to shed blocks, cover, blitz, and tackle. There's no real difference between "systems" for an ILB.

LMFAO, Murray would have been a perfect fit in the system. There aren't many systems that a talent like Murray wouldn't be a perfect fit in. Stay away from the scouting reports and watch the player. That said, there is still some talent at that position on the board, should they want to go that route. But please don't say that a player like Murray wouldn't have been a system fit. Kid's a stud.

The same talent IS NOT there at 33-50, There is no can't-miss sure-stud ILB like Kenneth Murray in the 2nd round .

"Can't miss". Hahahahaha.

Too small at 240 in the NE system and he isnt Mayo

Last night was lesson in draft mystery. Somehow the 2 best teams SF, KC got much better.. then pick23.. disappeared.

I liked Murray a lot (more than I liked Simmons) but I think the price was right for a trade down. Linebacker's a pretty deep group this year and guys like Logan Wilson and Akeem Davis-Gaither are all pretty good prospects who should be there at #71 and I don't think they're a substantial step down from Murray. Jacob Phillips ran that LSU defense and he might be a 4th or 5th round guy. Just a deep draft for linebackers.

Kansas City made a luxury selection for a running back when you really don't want Mahomes handing it off or throwing it short and their defense still has significant holes, and all it takes is one dud game from the offense to sink them in the playoffs. They need to plan for the post-rookie contract era and a running back wasn't the way to do that.

You're claiming something as a weakness in an analysis, when it's no such thing. The JAG trade was JAG for a second. That's it. Subsequent actions don't change that. If you pay me $40 for something (let's call it a widgibob), and then I take the $40 bucks and spend it on a DVD, a lunch out, some gas for my car and something for a pet, that doesn't magically make the trade having been a widgibob for a DVD, a lunch, gas for my car and something for a pet. The deal between you and I was still $40 for a widgibob.
Widgibob? LOL

Sooooo much twitter heat around the Packers pick....

I agree with the last one. The Packers insiders are trying to spin this as if this is a replay of the Farve to Rodgers transition, but it doesn't feel that way.

It does feel like GB is not intending to build the team the way the QB thinks it should be built.

It seems like there is a lot of parallels to the Brady situation and Rodgers may decide he wants out at the earliest possible opportunity.
