So our strategy is to own the 3rd round apparently lol

You're thinking too small my friend.. I'm confident Belichick can work his magic and trade back until we have every single pick in the 7th round! We will own that entire round and have our pick of the litter!

Chess vs Checkers baby!

I wouldn't be surprised if Dugger is the pick at 37.

Excellent size for a safety at 6'1" 217. 4.49 speed. 42 inch vert. Plus....SIX punt returns for TD in his college career. Level of competition wasn't great, obviously (DII) but Senior Bowl reports were very good.

Negative: will be 24 years old as a rookie.

Could end up being the top S in this draft.

Here are a few mock drafts I ran on PFF... the first one I went 5 rounds, the last one is just off-the-wall bonkers with trades (I picked up 3 2021 2nds by moving back).

I think Kenny Robinson is my favorite safety in the draft. He should transition well after playing against professionals in the XFL. Wouldn't be surprised if he's picked tonight at all.

Trade our new 2nd rounder for a 2021 first. Who's on the hot seat.. Houston.. Detroit!

Well some of those GMs and coaches played expert checkers last night. Today is the day for you BB to start that chess MAGIC. (PS please no more 5’6 CB from Rutgers this year)

Rutgers turned out to be a bit of a goldmine. Anytime you get three starters, you take that.

Yeah, everyone makes fun of the Rutgers thing but... Harmon, Ryan, and both McCourtys have been really, really good. Hell, based on his success rate with Rutgers picks versus everyone else, he probably should have drafted more Rutgers guys.

Houston traded their 2021 first AND second rounders to Miami for Tunsil. God help us if Houston sucks next year!

Unbelievably disappointing that we did not take a player at 23. With 12 picks we really did not need to trade back. I am not sure how many times we skip out on the top talent in the draft anymore and get away with it. Very discouraging but I am still hopeful we try to make the most of today's picks.

Historically, each player selected at a given position has only a 52% chance to have a better career than the next player picked at that position, so moving back is almost always a good decision if there are a lot of guys you have rated about the same.

There's an excellent thread on this in this Forum. Even I was surprised how well trading back for more picks has worked. The Pats have lost talented players a few times (i.e., Ed Reed in 2002) but have gained far more over the years using this strategy.

This is exactly what I thought when reading that post. Rutgers has produced some nice DB's for us.

What times does the draft start today?

Thanks. I will check it out. This draft is really deep and all the TEs and RBs and LBs are still there so I am not that bummed. I just wanted a top pick.

The same talent at 23 is there at 33-50

They now have the picks to grab two to potentially 3 of those players.

Was kind of sad....all the other coaches and GMs hanging with family, laughing, food everywhere.....and then there’s Bill sitting ALONE in the dark at some odd looking table staring down into his laptop.....but that’s his style

Ernie Adams is upstairs in the West wing guest bedroom with his headset.

Stockpiling picks for next year too.
