Absolutely. If the Pats tried to play the waiting game there are two issues. One is timing of the draft later this week. The other is Gronk officially un-retiring which would I think immediately causing his contract to go back onto the Pats' cap which would then push them way above it.

That's a game of chicken that Gronk would end up losing.

Pretty sure Belichick would be more than happy to make moves to bring back Rob Gronkowski to man the Tight End spot over having another season of LaCosse and Izzo.

I didn’t follow the Brady saga too closely so I don’t know if there have been any public statements from Edelman, but not beyond the realms of possibility he feels let down by Brady.

yea because we havent been drafting worth a damn for a couple years (2019 draft still pending results). No excuse this year, they were eliminated in the wild card round and had an extra 2 months to assess the roster and prepare for the draft

They need to have the draft of a lifetime this year.
