Gronk trade completed

I wonder if they’ll time the cannon from that pirate ship to the Gronk spike if he scores a TD. Lol

I guess BB & co. don't think Howard is worth particularly much if they rather take a fourth round pick. Guess you can kiss that one goodbye.

If we enter the season with Lacosse and Izzo as starting tighteneds then BB either hates Jarret Stidham or the game has passed him by.

With Gronk playing with US last season we could have been in Miami...

The fact that we couldn't even get Howard, who was on the trade block, is just mindblowing.

Why? It's not like they couldn't acquire him at some future date if they wanted him. He's not going anywhere. Clearly other teams aren't jumping over each other to get the guy.

When you have players completely leveraged under contract, you probably don't have to.

When you give one an out and another basically won't play another down unless its on his terms, you sorta open yourself to "caring" about it. No?
No because I think in both situations it was mutual. BB wanted to move on from Tom if he got too pricy and Gronk was not going to be on the 2019 team if he wanted to.

Then the guy who plays the same position as Gronk that Tampa has been trying to trade for the last several months?

Gronk was a dead asset, who'd put up declining numbers and has a price to his contract. He was also only going to play for one team. There was no leverage. They were lucky to get more than a 5th, and they probably would have been looking at a 6th without the Brady comfort factor for the Bucs.

Cant wait you use that 4th round pick for a player we can draft in the 7th

Isn't OJ Howard's cap hit like 3 and change?

Could explain, in part, why it was for picks.

Can you imagine the meltdown many (hopefully including the usual suspects on here) will have if the Pats finish with a better record than the Bucs?

There's a quote out there that says something along the lines of "getting a player to play at the highest level isn't always a lot of fun" or something like that. That's what we have here. Gronk wants to have fun and be gronky (thanks Viv), Bill wants him to be the best.

If any of you have seen that quote or know who it is from, let me know.

The only thing I'm upset about is I don't trust Bill to get any value out of a 4th round pick. I was pretty much rooting for a player because I have no faith in Bill as a GM. Thats rough lol
Given the way his drafts have generally gone since ‘14, you’re probably right in not trusting him to get anything of value. If it makes you feel better, he’s generally done good work when he’s accumulated more picks than most other given years and just fired whatever he could at the wall to see if it sticks. We will see if it happens again.

Too many are thinking of the Gronk in his prime. The last time I saw Gronk play, he ran like he had a load in his pants

He already did.

People complaining they lost a 7th are pretty funny. What do you think 7th round picks are for other than sweeteners in this kind of thing? Drafting studs like Danny Etling and Ken Webster? They have 12 or 13 picks, they're going to be trying to give away those 7ths on Saturday to move up a few picks in the 5th round.

I’m amazed they got what they did for him. Blocking aside, he’s not worth anything like that now.

No it isn’t. Howard is talented, young and healthy..albeit totally misused by Arians. Gronk has no value compared to Howard.

Maybe Gronk does well, who knows.
