Gasp, With No Reasonable Tradedown Or Out, Belichick Drafts

At 23rd Murray is one of the most reasonable choices. However last mock drafts and simulators give us opportunity to acquire either Ruggs or Chaisson. If that happens I would take one of them with no hesitation.

I'd love for the team to pick Espinosa. I just can't see Bill making a pick on day one. But if they do, and AJ isn't there then I wouldn't be shocked to see them Xavier McKenney though. Bill loves using high picks on the secondary and given the fact both McCourty twins could be gone after next year it might be smart.

I would bet that Chaisson and McKinney go top 15 so it’s extremely likely that at least two players from your list are available at 23.

in the first round Bill will probably select the highest rated player on the board regardless of position. Since there are no safetys or edge rushers (outside of young) I would assume the pick is from one of those positions.

I like Gross Matos, I’ve read comparisons between him and Chandler Jones.

Respect.
If Stidham's the guy, it's a quick build.
If he isn't...well, we'll have to be patient and BB will be on his boat when the HOF committee comes knocking.
But, well said.
Thank you.

So, you say that if Stidham is the guy, it's a quick build. I presume you mean over 1-3 years. Personally, I don't see how this schedule is changed if we use a 3rd to draft another QB to compete with Stidham and be his backup if indeed he is "the guy". The downside is that we "waste" a 3rd rounder on a backup QB.

I understand that some believe that a 3rd rounder will be a serious contributor and we shouldn't use such a valuable resource on a backup/competitor at QB. I disagree.

Latest rumors on the radio say Dallas has McKinney lined up, unless somehow one of the 16 guys with a first round grade falls to Dallas! Which is possible.

The scenario could play out as follows:

I think teams would be foolish to trade up with Detroit or the giants, so the top 8 draft picks should be some order of:
1.) burrows
2.) young
3.) odukah
4.) Simmons
5.) tua
6.) herbert
7.) brown
8.) offensive tackle. Take your pick.

then we come to number 9 - Jacksonville. They will probably take either kinlaw or henderson. More likely they trade this pick to Atlanta and Atlanta takes Henderson! But either way, I am hopeful kinlaw makes it past this pick.

the next five picks are probably some order of offensive tackles and wide receivers.

that brings us to Denver at 15. If Atlanta or Jacksonville does indeed take henderson at 9, bb has a chance to trade up and get an impact play making defensive end, unlike any we have had since Seymour. Number 23 and a second round pick in 2021 should do it!

if Denver declines to trade, they need wide receiver and offensive line help. The wide receiver from Colorado is right down the road from them! Easy to check on his surgery recovery, which the radio says is going great.

Atlanta or Jacksonville will probably take Chaisson at 16. If it is Atlanta, they will feel like they got a steal, when all they really have is Beasley part 2.

at this point Dallas will not pass on kinlaw! Unless, bb, knowing Dallas likes McKinney, can persuade Jerry to let the pats trade up to here? Again number 23 and a second round pick in 2021 for 17 and a fifth round pick in 2021.

This is why internet scouting reports drive me insane.

Kinlaw, from one report: Gets off the ball a tick slow.
From another: Dude's a rocket. Regularly times the snap well, especially when aligned over the center, and comes low and hot out of the chute when he's tasked with penetration.

In our 3-4, bb is going to make the defensive ends read and react first, so they will not need to be quick off the snap or they wash themselves out.
However, when we play 4-3, kinlaw will move inside and he is plenty fast off the ball for interior offensive linemen.

He would immediately become our best DT
Insane if we could get him. Big gap then to other DT in this class

if he is healthy, this would be bb’s biggest draft coup in several years.

Our defense would be instantly improved with kinlaw. After a trade up to get kinlaw, we could follow up that with some linebackers like Harrison from Ohio state and Jennings from Alabama for instance and our defense would be top five next year.

Agreed, Defense would be really excellent.

Agreed like them both as well.
Also: Logan Wilson would be nice coverage LB and some late round LB prospects like Bailey

My comment wasn't really about Kinlaw or whether he'd be a fit or not. It was just my amusement that two 'scouting reports' or the same guy can have points that are complete contradictions of each other.

'Get's off the ball slow!' 'But he's a rocket who times the snap extraordinarily well!'

As a draft geek I don't even bother with 95% of them. In fact I won't even look until about a month before the draft. Same with mocks. I find most reports read the same or are just nonsense.

Depends who's writing them but less words the better imo. Get to the point, be precise in what you're trying to get across. Be objective.
Waldman writes a book but is smart, articulate & knows his ****. Always worth a read. Lance Zierlein is more to the former. He's great as well.
