I noticed that Bacon listed him as third round value on his rankings, same grade as Hurts. I personally don't know much about him. BGC, care to comment about what you see in him?
I see a guy who improved slightly and made a few leaps since he's been in college.
After throwing almost 20 INTs his first year at Bowling Green he's cut down considerably. I'm speculating here but it might have lead to him holding onto the ball too long at times. Once and a while he'll get stuck in his progressions.

His awareness around the pocket could improve but he has some decent movement, athleticism to work with. He Definitely has some feel bc he's very good at getting the ball out at the last second. Has no fear of standing his ground in the pocket. Again maybe too much but he can improve there I believe. Even slightly would go a long way.

Deep passes could improve but he's able to touch the enough of the field. Able to read and operate his whole offense. Generally pretty accurate. Like I said he might get caught up going through his reads.

Played through some injuries last year. Definitely didn't help.

I really like his ability to lead. Guys respond to him. He looks and plays the part.

Might be higher on him than most but that's the number I got from my scale

You can bet 1 million dollars that if the Pats let it leak out that they were face timing with James Morgan, there is NO chance in hell that they will draft him.....smoke screen

One of our 3rd round picks. Mark it down!!!

giphy.gif

They must really like him if a third thinking a 5th or 6th

I'm thinking more like 6th-7th...we have only one 5th-rounder right now, and I don't want to waste it on a Practice Squad talent...Sign a UDFA & a minimum-wage vet for camp arms, see who shakes loose on Cut-Down Day, and be done with it until this time next year...because if Stid sucks or gets IRed then we're Tanking for Trevor I hope...

Have to imagine Ruiz is high on our list. He could be a QB best friend. Smart and as you can hear, has the right attitude. Wants to be in charge.
I love his potential to hit the 2nd level though. Quick feet, looks like a bull moving around and aware our his surroundings. Wynn has great feet and Ruiz would be a great piece along side him. And hopefully Thuney. That would be quite the trio.
He could be good one. Can play in any scheme. He's a bull with long arms. + awareness. Good acceleration & agility. Has that nasty in him to make a point with his work. Damm I wish Scar was still on the sidelines.

The question that most intrigued me is what can bb get for the 23rd puck if love is still in the draft board?

Seems to me if he packages #23 with one or two of those day 3 picks, we could get two seconds.

So I'm not sure what the color codes mean but... it looks like you do value Jonathan Taylor and Jordan Love as the top two prospects in the draft in terms of fit for the Patriots?

I liked Phil Perry's latest draft board. Not a big fan of the 1st pick (rather a DE) but the other are ok.

The color code is explained as column A

I would rather a solid C than a project at QB. To me, unless BB sees an A/A+ quarterback fall to 23, I’d rather have a year of Stiddy and reassess.

Get a player you feel will be productive at a high level. DMac type, Thuney type... let’s hit a homer by swinging for a double - not strike out trying for the homer.

We've seen this story quite a few times now.

Greg McElroy
Tom Savage
Kyle Lauletta
Pretty sure I'm forgetting more of them

Not only do we never take the "total Patriots type QB", that QB almost invariably turns out as a sub-practice squad talent.

That seems like the mentality that leads to acquiring Andy Dalton or Derek Carr.

No - it means « pass on the QB » and build elsewhere. It’s squiring Ty Warren, Logan Mankins, Wilfork. And bypassing the « sexy » QB pick.

Remember they said people in the building were already calling Savage Tommy 2.
That was my favorite.
I’d look at QBs we are not hearing about linked to us Eason McDonald Murray Hurts it’s been awfully quiet around Jalen Hurts.
I think the Herbert interest is real I don’t think a McDaniels would meet with him in person and give him plays for no reason.
I could see a trade up in the top 10 if they think Herbert is a franchise QB

I would love to see them trade up to grab Jalen Hurts at top of 2nd round for 2 3's and a 3 from next year.
I do not think it is worth trading away all our draft capital to pick Herbert, Love or even Tua. Such a trade would mean giving away our first and 2nd round picks from next year, which could be top-10.

That's not a solid C, that's postponing the test. I agree with you, but I think you misrepresented the idea originally.

I suppose you are right - but if you give me a VG, solid, dependable six-eight year starter at C, I’d take it.

Doesn't the entire draft strategy hinge on whether the Pats believe they have a QB of the future in Stidham, or at least he's worth giving a year or two of playing time to see?

If yes, then they draft around him. If no, then this (and maybe next) year's draft strategy is about finding the QB.

Isn't it that simple? Or am I missing something.
