NFL Playoffs officially expanded to 14 teams

Jete fans will once again be left disappointed, they were hoping for a 32 team playoff field

This just helps to protect the Patriots records. It’s harder for any given team to win a Super Bowl.

Not a good move, IMO, but watch us go back to the playoffs ! Haha.

Yes and that's the worst part of expanding the playoffs. From an objective generic football fan standpoint it's hard to argue with getting more football being played by the better teams. However from a reasoning fan standpoint having only one team in an unbalanced schedule league get a bye is BS. When the top two teams in a conference get a bye odds are they weren't both the beneficiaries of weak schedules, versus when only one does. I'd rather there were some sort of realistically weighted tiebreaker formula between the division winners for that one seed versus just W/L when team A with 14 wins may have done it playing a <.400 schedule and Team B had 13 playing a >.600 schedule

The big difference being at least in the NHL in a 7 game series the better team usually wins

IF this is going to succeed, then it's time for teams to be able to dress and play ALL 53 on the roster.

Increasing thee chances of a losing team making the playoffs. What a bad idea. But there's money to be made and the greedy billionaire owners will never have enough.

I like it. I just wish they made it 16 teams and got rid of the bye altogether. Too much of an advantage for one team to play one game less and have both games at home.

Get those injured players out there!

The active roster has been increased by 2. Almost all the inactives will be injured players, with the exception of the #3 QB, and the #9 and #10 OL who might be inactive even when healthy.

I see no reason to further increase the number of active players, especially to 53 to the 55 player total.

Of course, we should understand that this was all part of negotiations, and the numbers are dictated by the contract.

I suppose we can argue about this again in 10 years.

Sounds good. Check the records. The current system has been in place for awhile. If the new system were in place instead of the 12 team system, exactly one 7-9 team would have made the playoffs (in the 90's I think).

There shouldn't be any byes. There is enough of an advantage if the top team plays the best of the non-divison winners to qualify.

And yes, having the best record would still be worth playing for.

Probably not at that level but 9-7 or perhaps 8-8 too in some cases...
Bad bad news for seeds nr 2...

I've already experienced the ultimate. I no longer give much of a s*** as I once would have. Let The 32 rot if it pleases them
