BGC 2020 QB/PTP Thread

I’m starting to warm up on Jalen Hurts. He reminds me of Lamar Jackson, who I wanted to draft. 3rd round or later though. Only QBs in our range at 23 I’d pick are Herbert (highly unlikely available at 23), Love (possibly available at 23) and Eason (most likely available at 23).

So my Questions are about Herbert and Eason
As far as Herbert a lot of people said he was a single read QB
What is your thought on that.
As far as Eason it’s maturity and commitment not talent issues.
Did he finally grow up and will take his job and being a leader seriously?
Will he watch film rally team mates practice tirelessly at his craft?
Or is he more Jay Cutler 2.0?
Could BB put a boot in this kids ass and reap the benefits or is this Mallet like?
I do like his father as a child made him play o line to learn the nuances of the guys protecting him.
Thanks

Personally, in my opinion, Herbert is gonna wind up being the best QB in this QB class. I have no doubts, or concerns about Herbert.

I really like Eason as well, I like the fact that he picked up 2 completely different offenses really quickly. And of course that arm. I like his passion and the fact he fought through adversity. I’d be happy with him at 23, though I prefer Herbert.

I think as long as Herbert isn’t just thrown into the fire from day one he’ll be a great player. I think sitting behind a vet like Ryan Fitzpatrick will go a long way for his development.

As for us, I wouldn’t think about taking qb with our pick. I think the picks can be used to set the table up for Stidham to give him the best chance at success as possible.

Do you think Herbert and Stidham have a equal ceiling?

I know you’re not asking me, but I think Herbert’s ceiling is higher.
Personally, I loved Stidham coming out and like Herbert (don't love)

But, who the Hell am I?

I think Herbert has the higher ceiling if he’s put into the right situation. If he’s expected to come in day one and succeed I think that team would be setting him up for failure. But if he can be groomed and brought along slowly he should be fine. But I am very high on stidham as well. I think his last year at Auburn was a complete mess due to things out of his control. But i know before his last year he was projected to be a higher pick. I am also not an expert by any means lol.

Thread.

Seems to underthrow a lot of passes. I want a QB with a good arm. Stidham has a much better arm than this guy. If they pick a QB early, say in the 1st round, I want Herbert (won’t slip to 23), Love (may slip to 23) or Eason. Middle to late rounds, I’d love to see McDonald from Hawaii.
Morgan has a big arm. Just watch him some more. Yes, he throws off his back foot but that can be taught or he will throws a lot of picks, as mentioned.

He’s got a good enough arm. Just needs time to clean up the mechanics like you pointed out. Would like to see him get more comfortable stepping into the pocket on outside pressure instead of backing up before throwing off the back foot. With time/reps this can be fixed.

I’ve thought the same thing he has some Jimmy G to his game
More I think about this QB draft it’s TUA 1 Herbert 2 Love 3 Hurts 4 Eason 5 everybody else is a jag who’s interchangeable except my binkie Cole McDonald think McDaniels could turn him into a real weapon possibly down the road.
Well worth a flier in the later rounds.

Not knowing much about the specifics, Herbert gives me a Gabbert/Rosen type vibe just from the way he's talked about and analyzed. Has "all the tools", produced well in college, but something intangible is missing. I'm not a big fan of that type of prospect if that is indeed what type of prospect he is.

Could you get behind Jordan Love as the new QB of the New England Patriots?

This commenttor seems to believe that Love has a ton of arm talent.

And if you look at some of the throws he makes, even on the run, it looks pretty impressive. The only big questionmark is the regression he went through in his last college season. But the talent on paper looks impressive, at times he looks kind of like Phillip Rivers with those type of throws. Could BB win with a Phillip Rivers at QB? I think so, he might not win as much as with Brady but if a guy like Love panned out that's still a chance at 1 or 2 championships within a decade which is the more 'normal' rate for other teams not named New England Patriots.

How do you guys feel about Jordan Love and should BB be interested in drafting him to lead the Pats at the QB position?

Joe Burrow?

Whenever I see Jordan Love, I think of Blake Bortles...

I've been effectuated with him for 2 years. He has a ton a of talent, tools and "it".
Last year was a hole and sometimes it's easy to keep digging playing hero ball than climbing out.

He needs some discipline. Some guys (Moss) crave structure, leadership etc and when they don't have it they're their own worst enemy. I think Love needs a mentor type he can lean on. Sit him for a year and make him fight a little bit. Let him see what it's really like in the pros.
