Article today on the Pat's biggest issue on Offense being lack of an NFL Tight End. I believe that is correct and I honestly don't know how they fix it. Nothing left at FA and draft has no meaningful players on the surface. Only thing I can think of is convert an oversized WR but that's low-percentage.

There are almost a dozen TEs in this draft who can help and who would be Infinitely better than what we have now...

I think BB would love old man Delanie Walker or we can sign Seals Jones
However what about trading for like Jesse James or as one of esteemed posters suggested One of the Rams tight ends.
Patriots need to make trades or re do deals for cap space right now we have no cap to pay any worth while free agents.
Can someone explain why Toms money hits our cap like that it’s almost like a FU to the front office before out the door.
How the heck did we get so screwed by Antonio Brown?
I bet they are laughing about it as they FaceTime each other while in the shower.
So weird and yeah I know it’s a ignorant thing to say.
However neither one of them is a Patriot and Tom is now just another NFL player in the way of my Patriots.

Based upon last year, I hope BB has seen enough to draft one.

I’m still on the draft Kmet then come back up in the first or second for Trautman If we are not trading for a quality tight end.

The problem is that this offense is very complicated. You have guys like Harry who had no clue year one. Harry had a 24 Wonderlic which is reasonable in smarts for a WR. DionBranch had a 26 in comparison and he got our playbook. Then there is Gronk who most looked as a lunkhead. He had a 32 Wonderlic and was actually very smart. There is no excuse for Harry not to learn.

I think the Pats playbook was a problem for many like Chad Ocho. Chad Jackson .....had a 15!

As I mentioned, the Niners are in talks with Jordan Reed. The outlier here is that they would trade Everett (who actually was the starter in 2019 till he tweaked his knee mid-season and when he came back, Higbee supplanted him). I think they dangle Higbee with the bigger CAP hit.

Now if you go for a very under the radar TE (because he is not rated as one), look at Chase Claypool from ND 6'5" and 238 and chiseled He can gain 15lbs no problem and he runs a 4.46 40. He blocks very well thank you. Can he get the nuances of playing at the end of the line> Perhaps. He caught 66 passes at ND last season with 13 TDs.
George Kittle is 6'4" and 249. The aforementioned Gerald Everett is 6'3" and 240. Jordan Reed is 6'2" and 242. Evan Engram is 6'3" and 240. Hockenstein is 6'5" and 243 lbs.

Speaking of a Wonderlic story, "Joe Thuney avoided answering Wonderlic questions so he did not come off as too smart. He was told to answer only 39 of the 50 questions — which he did — and he got all of them right".

Playing at ND academics is relevant. Claypool might be a TE steal. Can he learn the offense? I would love him and Trautman! We need two Cousins.

A draft of Kmet Trautman Mims or Claypool and Raegor transform this entire offense.
We might be able to trade out of the first pick up a extra third and stock up on the front 7.
4 difference makers is realistic give Stidham some good targets.

You’re laying some heavy stuff on me this morning.

It seems that when Brady left, the *tourch* was actually passed to Mahomes and the KC Chiefs, and that truly sucks.

Pretty funny that that KC troll two years ago randomly ended up being correct about the tourch.

It is what it is.

Doesnt sound like this is a TE draft. Seems like most of the "top" options might still be there end of day 2.

If he's there after the 2nd? Sure you definitely think about it. Also
I had Claypool labeled as a PTP (Patriot-Type Player) at the beginning of the year. He's not under the radar Cuz.
He's intriguing but if you watched him his tape is ...lacking a bit. He's a physical prospect. Can bully in close quarters. Straight line speed that needs a head start. Not much shake. 4 down player who'll buy in. Great blocker.

I could go on but a lot of his qualities we already have in Harry.

The big question is where he lands. Not sure I want to overpay for him or this class.

Btw I have a Pats Big Board. Its a combo of what position put up the #'s we like. Talent, projection etc.

Debating on starting a thread or putting it in another one?

Build the offense so that we can roll out 6 linemen and reduce our reliance on having a pass catcher at TE. Use all of our RB's...and in the draft, load up on WR!

LFG!
