We lost. All I noticed was him completing passes to wide open receivers and getting 1st downs on defensive holding calls on 3rd & long.
Fortunately, that year's D jelled after a horrible start.
better for us if he’s notNewton spent all those year taking on linebackers, it literally shorten his career. Unless he changes his style of play his days are numbered. I hope Lamar is paying attention.
Jackson doesn’t take on LBs head-on.Newton spent all those year taking on linebackers, it literally shorten his career. Unless he changes his style of play his days are numbered. I hope Lamar is paying attention.
Cam Newton came into the league boasting that he was going to become an icon. He should have set his sights on becoming a QB instead.

c.) We can't afford Cam anyway....
Saying that Cam isn't worth having in place of the mighty Studham is one thing. Saying that were can't free up enough 2020 cap room to sign Cam is another position entirely.
I believe that we can free up enough cap space to afford the $6M-$8M that might be required to acquire Cam (or Dalton or Winston).
==================
CONTRACT
2020
$2M 2020 salary
$20M bonus over 5 years (with as many void years as you want; I would say none)
NLTBE incentive TBD
2020 cap hit would be SIX MILLION
Up the bonus to $25M and the 2020 cap hit is SEVEN MILLION
Up the bonus to $30M and the 2020 cap hit is EIGHT MILLION
2021-2024
These elements of the contract are TBD. They have no effect on the 2020 cap. I would not that I have deferred $16M-$20M of 2020 bonus into years when we have $100M or more of cap space. Maybe that is reasonable, maybe not. But that judgement does not affect whether we can AFFORD Cam in 2020.
uh-oh, racial beancounter identified.I mean, the demographics of who on this forum hates on Cam Newton skew old and conservative. Doesn't mean he isn't an *******, but it is what it is.
If you can sign Newton for less than you were willing to pay brady.. including the dead money then it's a no brainer.? But the dead money kinda nixes the deal.?
IDK cuz I'm not capologist GM wannabe.
The wild card is we don't know what they have in Stidham, I'll trust BB's evaluation over any of ours any day.
Dead money ain't coming back, so shouldn't really be a concern anyways. Hard to believe they'd bring him in on more than a one year prove-it deal.
Right so dead money gets added to either Brady or Newton contract for this season .?
