I miss Tom Brady

We undoubtedly had the worst receiving corps in the league and the worst TE group in the league as well. His out route and back shoulder throws were fine, however, when Brown and Gordon played for the team and the latter was healthy. As a matter of fact, he was bar none the best quarterback in the league during that time. The throw to Brown against Miami was a back shoulder throw. That thing was a laser. Once he lost them and Edelman first got hurt against the Jets, defenses begun to play them as if they were in the red zone. Lots of Cover-1, man under. Lots of inside shade by the corners to take away anything in-breaking and underneath. As a result of that and how good the defense was playing, he became risk averse. Balls went into the dirt if guys were well covered instead of going the other way. Sure, he missed some throws. He’s missed throws in every game throughout his career. Hanging your argument on that, however, is weak sauce. They just let Dorsett, essentially their WR2 after Gordon left, walk without any semblance of a fight to keep him. That should tell you all you need to know about who Brady was throwing to in 2019.

I don't know how anyone writes Brady off going into next season. I think he'll put up at least as many W's with the weapons he'll have in Tampa Bay as he would have in Foxboro.

Biggest obstacle will be not getting injured as a 43 y/o. Only so many tomatoes you can not eat.

This. I know he’s always been vocal, but last year he was just annoying. I am fine with him being a fierce competitor, but every time they showed him on the bench he would be sitting 15 feet away from young guys like Nkeal Harry. So it appeared like he was more than happy to put on a show when the receivers messed up, but didn’t want to address it constructively. This kid was probably scared out of his mind and Brady could have been the leader. Also, I never saw a receiver throw up his arms and yell when Brady missed them when they were wide open. It seemed to me like he had checked out last year. FWIW, I was/am a huge Brady fan, but I think the real motivation is the seventh ring (more than Jordan) and he saw that this team is not in a position to get there soon.
I also feel like he doesn’t have the loyalty built up with the fans in TB. They will be super hype to start but if the team struggles at all, the TB fans will be more likely to turn on him, because unlike the fans here, he hasn’t brought the championships in the past.

I think they will be decent maybe win 10-11 games and get bounced as a wildcard team. Sure the offensive talent may be better. But there are new coaches who may not be as detail oriented, a worse defense, and an OL that probably is worse than the Pat's. Plus a strong division that includes the saints, atlanta(who can always turn it on here and there) and carolina who might be decent with Bridgewater's next year.

Not anytime recently. 2010 was pretty good, though. 2012 was another one.

What do you consider a slam dunk draft? 2 ProBowlers? 4 starters? Do you realize how rare that is?

On average, if a team gets 2 starters and 2 solid reserves every year it is doing great.

When I said it, I had in mind a draft that starts/fills a foundation. 2010 did that with Gronk and McCourty. 2012 did that with Jones and Hightower. Not necessarily that every pick needs to be a hit. That's not going to happen. In the end, I think I'll be happy if they end up being better than the complete trash of recent years.

Brady may miss age 43 in the NFL altogether because this season might not be played. It'll be his own fault if he tarnished his reputation for so little in return.

Yea some drafts are home runs. Some functional. Some disasters.

Well, I think 'Slam Dunk" (which I only quoted) would be a great deal more promising than the players we have selected in the more recent drafts. Like I said, I'm not optimistic that will happen. I hope it will but this cabal has not demonstrated they're up to it.

Even if so....Brady alone removes 2-3 possessions to defend per game vs. play action. That has to translate to 4-5 points less given up per game...which could easily make a 7-9 team 12-4....
