Why are you ignoring the other 5 VETERAN TEs that the Pats brought in? HMM? Seriously. You and others act like they only signed Watson. You ignore Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Lance Kendricks, Eric Saubert, Michael Roberts, and LaCosse. How is BB supposed to know that ASJ is going to ask to be released? That Watson and Kendricks are BOTH going to get suspensions and that Saubert isn't going to be able to handle #3 TE duties?

And let's not forget that Gronkowski is the one who screwed the Patriots over with his dilly-dallying on making his decision. If he's just come right out and said it, Cook would have signed with the Pats. He said as much.

The run game was only mediocre because of the injuries to Develin, Johnson, Andrews, Wynn, Mason and Cannon. No big deal there right... Once they went to using Roberts as the FB and had a healthy Wynn, the running game got better. I expect it to be better this year with Vitale and a healthy O-line.
How wouldn’t he have known that? A bunch of fans on a message board saw all of that coming from a mile away.

Media staning Cam hard as if the injuries never happened.

Its interesting Sanu is training with him.
I don’t think there’s much to see there. Newton is in Atlanta because it’s his hometown and it was clear that he had no reason to stick around in Carolina. Sanu is in Atlanta because he lived there during his time with the Falcons and didn’t have time to pick up everything and move to NE during a midseason trade. Some current Falcons were there too. It’s just a group of NFL players who live in Atlanta.

On one hand, you are intrigued by him. If healthy, Newton has some serious talent. He is actualy bigger physically than Hightower. It would be interesting to see what Josh could come up with as far as an offense for him.

On the other hand I doubt seriously he could take the Boston press, especially if things started going south. The red headed step child would have a field day with him. Is he better than Stidham and Hoyer, yup, can he cut it in NE, doubt it.

Although, it might be worth the price of admission just to watch the show!

Right now Cousin, no question Newton is better than any in our QB room. The thought I have is could he co-exist with BB? Then again River Boat Ron was no cupcake.

I think what I would love to see is a throwaway like Netwon or Winston make the Pats competitive or better than the Bucs. That would be the "show". BB would have a smile.

Everyone talks about TB smarts. He scored a 33 on his Wonderlic. The QB average is 26. Would Newton or Winston have the ability to learn the complicated Pats offense? Newton scored 21 on the Wonderlic. Winston actually scored a 27, which is only one point lower than what Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson scored when they took the test.

Here are some more shockers. Derek Carr has a 20 Wonderlic score! Aaron Rodgers has a 40! Eli Manning, you know, Goober....had a 39.

Dan Marino had a 16 and McNabb had a 14 and they were pretty good.

Ben Watson had an amazing 48!

Did you know Winston was accepted to Stanford?

Do you know who else got a 27 on their Wonderlic?............... Jarrett Stidham
DW Toys

Travis Benjamin to the 49ers

Al woods to the Jaguars

Jordon Ta'amu to the Chiefs

Jimmy Smith to the Raiders

It's intriguing would have to open up a lot of cap.
Would much rather have the pipe dream of DeShawn Watson.
Offer Gilmore a first and first in 2021
For Watson

Would $8M of cap money be "a lot of cap"? We could reduce the bonus to $20M, resulting in a $6M cap.

$2M 2020 salary
$30M bonus over 5 years

There are lots of other elements to a contract, but 2020 cap money isn't an insurmountable problem.

OTTHER ELEMENTS
NLTBE incentives
future year salaries and guarantees (2020 would presumably be guaranteed)
future options
future roster bonuses
