which republicans spent years trying to close our borders?

stop making excuses for bad people

Coronavirus quotes from the president (this has been posted before, but it bears repeating:

Why do these quotes have to be continually posted to stop people from revising history?

Look, cut the crap. He closed the pandemic office & team that was created as a result of H1N1. He ignored an intelligence pandemic simulation that was done last year that predicted this almost to a T. In January, he made the decision to make all internal meetings on this "classified", so that the press and others wouldn't know about them, and as a result many experts were excluded from the conversation due to lack of security clearance.

The whole time, the pandemic to him has been all about how it affects his re-election. Nothing else matters to him. If you gave him the choice of losing an additional 100,000 citizens to the virus vs. getting re-elected, he'd choose the latter without question.
He did not cut the office. It was merged with 2 other offices that had the same mission.

Tim Morrison, former senior director for counterproliferation and biodefense on the NSC, explains the streamlining of departments and offices that took place to increase efficiency.

It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, “dissolved the office” at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness. Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious.

. . . . It is true that the Trump administration has seen fit to shrink the NSC staff. But the bloat that occurred under the previous administration clearly needed a correction. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, congressional oversight committees and members of the Obama administration itself all agreed the NSC was too large and too operationally focused (a departure from its traditional role coordinating executive branch activity). As The Post reported in 2015, from the Clinton administration to the Obama administration’s second term, the NSC’s staff “had quadrupled in size, to nearly 400 people.” That is why Trump began streamlining the NSC staff in 2017.

Just my opinion....this was a good idea! It minimizes late night (alcohol influenced) posting.

I support a daily 11pm curfew on this topic!:)
What about time zone differences.

he does not ask a lot of questions.......he never has......Trump himself has said that he goes by 'gut feel'....he simply does not function the way Fauci suggest.

Fauci is simply trying to say what he has to in order to stay in the game.........because without him in that spot, we really are screwed
So Fauci is lying now because what the says does not fit into your preferred narrative?

he's doing exactly what most surrounding trump have been doing for 3 years.....mollifying the infant

Closed until morning .......... good night all.
Stay safe and you and your family be well.
If you know anyone broke from this then reach out and share.

People are dying out there ... anyone making a joke
of this thread do us a favor and please stay out of it ...

I didn't like it. Was more forced isolation, while already in my forced isolation.

Got that one covered already. The consolidation was absolutely harmful in response time.

Coronavirus Serious Discussion Only!

I think you have to dig deeper than the traditional media, who is only interested in their bottom line, while manipulating the public.

Watch this. I think i set it up to start at the 18 min. mark. These are the "boots on the ground" that are getting the work done.

The fact that they are talking about setting up negative pressure hostpital bed in hotel rooms and triage centers in schools (red cross norm in a catastophe) should tell you that they are taking this seriously. These plans were in place over a month ago. They expect a great many of us to get sick. You really have to look deeply at to what is going on, because there's so much misinformation out there.

I'm not saying people aren't taking this seriously, what I'm simply saying is the testing which by all accounts is needed no matter which plan you want to follow (suppression, mitigation, containment, the hammer) is woefully inadequate. Even today!

There's no way Florida has such low numbers, with no cases reported (so far) today.
Florida is a transient state with people from everywhere coming and going all the time. There's a ton of people in Florida from NY/NJ.

The fact is there aren't enough tests, and those few tests are being limited to first responders and people that are basically old and dying. The same in other states. The numbers being shown are not accurate at all.

Edit: by the way, I watched that video live and praised the ACOE.

Jesus, I get it. Why cant anyone get that there's such a thing as personal responsibilty. I live in freaking Massachusetts, probably the most anti-Trump state in the union. Take a trip to any walmart and watch the crowd behavior. Sure there's the Tommybrady12 guys in there but Ill bet the majority havent voted Republican in their lives. Social distancing is the last thing on theirs mins apparently.

because our fearless leader to them not to worry about it.......go to work anyway, we will be fine in a week......attitude reflects leadership and my guess is that there are many dimly lit bulbs out there (and in here) who simply run with whatever he says......because to not do so would mean you're a hating liberal and you know how we hate those

...because a lot of people in this state are ****ing stupid.

Not just in this state, but pretty much every other state.

Which is why you need very strong leadership at a time of great peril, someone who issues very clear and direct commands.

Everywhere I have been, people have been taking care to give others lots of space.

Pretty much nails it:

And I think we're pretty much headed for the latter, with all the focus being on economic resuscitation than taking meaningful action against the virus.

You gotta refocus. Treat this like training camp. Push yourself everyday, you will be back in shape and rocking that cheetah print skirt you hadnt fit into since college

There is evidence supporting allowing the young & healthy to socialize & work can actually kill off this virus. As long as they don’t interact with those most vulnerable.

interesting article from NY Times and it makes sense to me.

If someone disagrees, please state your reasons! I’m ok with older people sacrificing...especially since I’m an old guy

So you're willing to sacrifice your Dad for the economy?

Yes but if citizens don't practice common ****ing sense then it doesn't matter who leads.

Here's the quote:

Dr. Fauci on working w/President Trump: "He asks a lot of questions. That's his nature. He's constantly asking questions. And I never, in the multiple times I've done that, where I said, 'For scientific reasons we really should do this,' that he hasn't said, 'Let's do it.'"
And? Fauci is trying to suck up just enough so that Trump doesn't fire him and replace him with one of Trump's idiot cronies who will proceed to screw things up more.

Not just in this state, but pretty much every other state.

Which is why you need very strong leadership at a time of great peril, someone who issues very clear and direct commands.

You are living in fantasy land. There is no one who will order 350 million citizens to stay at home and practice social distancing. Only if the President declares martial law...
