Jules wants out?

Only a blind Homer would think that this Offense will be any good. rob the Talent blows period no decent vet in their right minds on O would want to come here. A lot of growing pains coming in 2020. 6-10 Team minus Brady and that might even be a stretch.
Its March but go ahead and panic if it makes you feel better.

He's got a 9m cap number. I guess it comes down to what kind of locker room presesnce is he without Tom. If he is vocal in dissention against the Patriot Way, he'll be on the Shawn Springs, Adailius Thomas train out of town. If he's a good soldier, team leader, captain material, then he'll be here.

It’s tough to say. He should be one of the biggest proponents of the Patriot culture. “Doing his job” plus a little bit more allowed him to not only stay on a roster but eventually blossom into a stellar receiver and ultimately a Super Bowl MVP. No other team would’ve likely drafted him. How many teams would have kept him around on their 53 when he was a scrappy ST/PR just trying to find his role and learn a new position? He’s a poster boy for “The Patriot Way” almost as much as Brady was.

At the same time he’s Brady’s best friend pretty much and it’s hard to imagine it’ll be easy to adjust. Will things wear thin on him without his role model there?

A 3rd is reasonable. A 2nd rounder is highly unlikely.

There are a lot of maneuvers that Belichick could work out to get into the 2nd round.

Example...

We give Edelman & a 3rd & 6th comp pick for TB’s 2nd & 5th round picks.

There seems to be a lot of swapping of picks in recent years.

In today’s Globe, Trollin’ Volin wrote:

“A trade before June 1 would save the Patriots $4.33 million in cap space this year. A trade after June 1 would save $7 million on the cap this year.”

This conflicts with what others have written in this thread. I thought that because of a $6 million dead cap hit that trading or releasing Edelman would only give them $1 million in cap relief this year. Can Miguel or any of our posters who is familiar with the salary cap comment on this? Thanks.

I think the confusion is that most of the conversations talk abut trading Edelman for draft picks and the draft is prior to June 1. If people change the conversation to post June 1st, the conversation changes.

Yea but that's a messy way of attributing a straight forward value on a player.

Lots.

Back in 2009 if they had considered trying to slide him onto the PS, that "hope" evaporated in the first preseason game. It was obvious he would have been claimed off waivers.

Another example: SB53. The Rams had nearly one-third of their players playing primarily or exclusively on STs.

The big question for me is: Did Brady tell Edelman that he was leaving the team, or was he blindsided, like everyone else?

I’m sure Brady told him. I’m even more sure of that than I am about Brady and BB having a very frank conversation with the direction of the football team in the next two years when they spoke.

I bet he dropped little hints to JE but told him flat out around the time he told Early Bird.

Didn't you watch the clip from the Syracuse game? Brady clearly told Edelman that he was leaving and that he should join him.

Where do you see this?

I doubt Edelman knew before Kraft who said on record that Brady informed him the evening before.

Sorry, was making light of all of the fuss made (lip reading attempts and body language analysis) of the Brady/Edelman interaction caught on camera at the Syracuse game. Just a swing and a miss at humor...will try to hold onto my day job.

Only team I can think of is maybe BAL.

Well, that's fine. I am 100% on board that Jules knew what was going on.

oh the drama

Anyone who was blindsided by this announcement must have been living in a cave the past year.
