Just makes sense to carry 3 this year when everything is in transition at the position.
I think it only make sense to carry three if they get one in the draft. I wouldn’t Necessarily want a three of Stidham-Hoyer-Kessler.

If they take a QB early then Kessler is a goner and you have a bona fide QB competition during camp.
Is Hoyer a lock? I don’t believe so.

Stidham better be the second coming of Patrick Mahomes, because with the amount of QBs available, to simply sign the corpse of Brian Hoyer and call it a day is just puke inducing.

Good pickups. Hoyer knows the system well which will be invaluable to Stidham’s growth. Yes, I fully believe Stidham will be the starter.

Yeah, I think Kessler was filling Hoyer's shoes to an extent last year. With Hoyer in the fold again, Kessler doesn't really serve a purpose and will probably not stick around. The third QB would need to be some kind of developmental piece.

About as much money as I expected he'd cost. Funny that another team is paying for him to play here (partially) again. Surprised it's only for 1 year.

What could possibly be gained by having Hoyer on the roster?

absolutely.......need someone to go in there week 1 and then week 2 until someone causes him to bleed internally...........starting the process over again.........after that who knows.....

So Pats would rather eat Brady’s cap charge of $13m and pay Hoyer $2m than pay Brady $25m and roll the cap charge. Wow.

Hmm let’s see, should we pay peanuts for a backup qb familiar with the system or paying more for guys like Winston and dalton who seem to like giving the ball to the other team, Winston especially?

Stidham is the guy I guess. Hope he turns out to be good, because I'd rather stab myself in the eye than watch Hoyer.
Yeah, Hoyer is the poor man’s Eli Manning this year.

You're making it sound like we passed on Brady and Brees when we're actually passing on Andy Dalton, Derek Carr, and the corpse of Cam Newton--all 3 at literally 10 times the price of Hoyer plus trade compensation, none of whom could possibly put this roster over the hump.

Unless you're talking about Jameis, who will probably get a bigger contract than we think.

What is the upside of having a guy like Hoyer on the roster? If you don't have a proven QB, wouldn't it be better to continually carry unproven guys with potential until you finally find your guy? What do the Patriots gain by having a known NFL journeyman occupy a spot that an unknown guy with potential could take. You know what Hoyer is, and there's no future in that.

Perhaps you missed the part about the colts paying part of the 2 mil for hoyer.

Stidham absolutely has to beat out Hoyer, and the upcoming draft to improve WR/OL/TE is critical to our chances of staying an elite franchise for next 5 years+

If we have any more 1st & 2nd busts and if Stidhams not the guy, we'll be in the wilderness for a while...

Unless you believe TB12 was in fact just a system QB!
