They're in a state of lock down. I'm not sure if people are allowed to leave.

Don't forget that NY has also done twice as much testing so their numbers will seem higher than other places.

With the 400,000 test kits becoming available we're going to see numbers escalating everywhere. Which is good news because we'll better know where and what we're dealing with.

The spread was NEVER going to be contained. The whole point of what is happening is to slow it down and to avoid the hospitals from being crushed. This virus was coming hell or high water regardless.
I love love to hear how the armchair Presidents on this forum would do better.
And those in NY, Cali, and Illinois, enjoy your gun laws. Let’s see if the desperate criminals obey too.

So we saved 120 million per year to spend trillions before this is done but it was an outdated system inherited :/

I don't know how anyone can defend this. This group was create after the last Ebola breakout. We had the structures in place to plan and at a minimum, provide command and control over this and we cut them to save 120 million. :/

To put that 120 million into perspective. It's estimated that 133 million has been spent on Trump golfing.

I'd rather not be lied to. What a difference between daily conferences from Gov. Cuomo and Pres. Trump.

Cuomo gives you facts (# cases, how many beds are coming, stats on supplies, etc.), doesn't sugar coat spread (this is going to go on for a while, we're almost all going to get it), and provides comforting words.

The President gets into spats with reporters, blames China, offers no facts, "hopes and feels" stuff will work, exaggerates or misinforms critical information against what his own experts are saying.

I don't understand how anyone with even an ounce of critical thinking can see these daily conferences and not come away with anything but a sense of embarrassment or right out anger.

That money was for OTHER countries. You think we should send 120 million to other countries to deal with this? Maybe we should spend that on our own people.

You could almost think of the pandemic as a virus itself. What I mean is that countries who have dealt with one have developed a stronger immune system against pandemics. The government knows how to slow the spread, and most importantly the citizens have seen it before and know what to do, and they take it seriously.

The US will be vaccinated going forward - that is, more proactive steps will be taken when another pandemic hits. Preventative measures and supplies will be available to combat something like this again.

Unfortunately, this was a really bad pandemic to be unprepared for because of the way it spreads before symptoms appear. It could not have been prevented, but the number of infected people could have been greatly reduced by trying to get out in front of it instead of waiting to take reactive measures. Again though it is both leadership and society itself that will be better prepared next time.

I’m not blaming the US people but just pointing out that it’s only natural to be overconfident until one actually sees the catastrophe. Hence, I compare it to a virus that requires one to get attacked and damaged before building up one’s defense to be strong enough to destroy it - with minimal damage - the next time.

I’m sure I could also sit back now and point out all the things the previous guy could have done better too. The thing is, I actually think they are doing a great job and working with the Governors. Giving Cuomo what he needs too ( who I ALSO think is doing a great job ).

The French study treating Covid-19 with abnormal chest CT (not just ARDS) with Plaquenil and Zithromax shows virus clearance in almost 100% of patients vs less than 20% not treated at day 6. The curves separated dramatically on day 3. And while the following may be an overstatement, the French researchers say placebo treatment of Covid 19 with abnormal chest CT should be considered unethical.
