Brady gone

Super Bowl yes, AFCCG no. They lost the lead and Brady did his usual game winning drives.

He did. But still just a 77 passer rating. Would have been a lot less if Dee Ford wasn’t offside.

It was the run game that won them the title imo.

Kind of hard to do otherwise when you were drafted by him.

I was just pointing out that it was interesting I got disagrees on my original post saying Patriots went 11-5 with Cassel and 3-1 with JG/Brissett and not Brady. And Bill has a track record without Brady but Brady (no fault of his own obviously) doesn’t have one without Bill. All factually true...

If he would have stat padded goal line TD throws like certain other quarterbacks, that passer rating would have been a lot higher. They chose to run it in instead. You can’t judge that game off of stats. He had some masterful drives while the defense was getting shredded

Brady's QB rating against KC is incredibly misleading. He leads the team to multiple TD drives with everything on the line but because they run it in from the 2 instead of passing he was somehow less impressive? One int was a tip off of Edelman's hands. He made a bad decision in the End Zone pass to Gronk but besides that pass he had one of his greatest games ever.

The power run game was way more lethal than the pass game at that point in the season. So they went where the odds favored them. Ran it almost 50 times. They were absolute money on short to go downs and within the 10 yard line. I missed that so much last year :(

Brady and Edelman/Gronk for sure was huge on 3rd down in the 4th Q and OT but the Chiefs defense wasn’t so hot and they still held Brady to a weak 77 passer rating and only 7.5 or so yards per attempt- 2 picks and should have been a 3rd.

The bad end-zone decision/play-call that resulted in the INT was aimed at Dwayne Allen (yikes!), but the point is still valid.

**Edit** Never mind; I just finished watching the first-half highlights of that game, and the pass was definitely intended for Gronk...don't know why I thought the target was Allen...

Lol at anyone pointing out the KC AFCCG as a sign of decline.

It was a freaking clinic. His passer rating wasn’t great because the ran the ball in a few times instead of TD passes, as you pointed out.

The fourth quarter and OT was an absolute site to behold. Made more season saving do-or-die clutch throws than most guys make in a career.

Most of the time, every coach does things right. It's been obvious that BB's impactful errors have been more frequent in recent seasons. There's no sense pretending otherwise.
So Belichick is on the decline.

He's obviously not young anymore. Neither is Kraft.

Do you think we should move on from BB within five years? Or less?

They could wind up going into the HOF together.

So he was done after the JG trade, then done after a SB but then foe whatever reason stayed another two years even though he could have walked by holding out at any point.

Fortunately the defense and coaching won next year's SB otherwise we'd have reports about him being "really done" after 2018 as well.
Wouldn’t have even been in the Super Bowl if it wasn’t for Brady while the defense began imploding against the Chiefs.

It was refreshing to see the D actually finish against the Rams. It’s exhausting watching them over the years play well for a while, but then implode only to see the Brady bailout while BB gets the credit of being a “defensive genius”.

Whenever you criticize the defense, the counter is always that Brady put them in a bad position. Without fail that’s always the excuse. Unless Brady plays absolutely perfect he’s to blame for the hole he always dug us out of.

I don't get this writer's point at all...

After the Patriots lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII, Brady was deeply dissatisfied. The offense had put up 613 yards with no punts. When Belichick addressed the team upon its return to Foxborough, Brady mostly stared straight down, barely glancing up at his coach. Brady told people in the building that he wasn’t coming back. Needing distance, he detached from the team that spring. He left passive-aggressive comments on social media. He pleaded the fifth. He looked lost at the end of his Facebook docuseries, “Tom vs. Time,” saying of his passion, “What are we doing this for? …

So after the DEFENSE let the team down, Tom supposedly gives up on the coach and team just as the coach goes out and responds with an excellent defense that enables a low scoring Lombardi win against the LA Rams who up until then were thought an offensive powerhouse.
No excellent D, no 6th Ring.

  1. I don't know how long BB will coach. I do know that, if the Krafts have been learning from BB, BB will be gone if he continues to struggle, particularly now that Brady's not there to help cover for some of the errors. After all, better early than late, right?
  2. Kraft seems as if he should have stepped aside a couple of years ago.
  3. Yes, the triumvirate will all end up in the HOF.

I bet Brady’s popularity soars nationwide. That’s one aspect that shouldn’t be overlooked. Already seeing a huge amount of people who didn’t like the Patriots now rooting for Brady.

Butler being stuck on the sidelines because of the coach's decision is not a defensive failure, PWP.

I think most of the hate stems from BB and not much from Brady. They were the darlings in the NFL from 2001-2003 as “the little engine that could”. After 2004, fans were getting tired of them as the dynasty was born. But after Spygate, that’s when the hate began.

So yes, I could see Brady’s popularity rise even more.

If he wins a couple of more Lombardi’s that will change in a hurry. Everyone hates a winner.
