Is this some kind of joke? 2 years at $50m guaranteed??!?! With a couple of incentives thrown in if he’s top 5 in passing categories. Frickin $25m per year. This is exactly the kind of contract Pats fans were hoping he’d sign here. So BB and Kraft idiots didn’t even want to give Brady $25m with some incentives on top. Really wtf?

Is this real life? Brady didn’t even leave for money. He left because of the way the 2019 negotiations went and the gruff and shameful manner BB and Kraft him in this offseason.

If Brady had been receiving $32-35 pr year for 3 years , I could understand. Seeing this $25m per year for 2 years deal makes my blood boil.

Fck you BB and Fck you Kraft. Pars FO totally failed us in these negotiations. Brady practically left for same money. Ridiculous.

Just move on. Kraft and Bill have both lied about their intentions to sign brady this season and all the evidence has shown that.

That or brady didnt wanna dome back to lack of weapons.

History will not be good to bill and Kraft on this one.

If you couldn’t tell that he was leaving by how he handled the situation, you were blind. As to whose fault it is, we’ll never know, but I don’t think it was ever about money to begin with.

Unfortunately, we may never see him play another down so it may not matter in the long run. I hope that I’m wrong, but I think we’ve got a long way to go before seeing any sports.

From what I've read yesterday, that figure is actually in line with what the Patriots offered him last year during extension talks. Problem was the length of the guarantees. Since 2016 the Pats basically went year-over-year with the guarantees. Just let it go, it is what it is.

The important thing is who won the PR battle? Early Bird Bob was meticulous with his self-serving anecdotes and acting surprised. Followed it up with some ambiguous claims that the Patriots “likely” would have matched the offer. And made sure to leak some claims about big bad Brady to the press.

Bob wrote the playbook for the NFL’s propaganda / fake news machine, which got underway when Bob’s “guy” Goodell became the Omissioner.

Well, that’s the end of Bob being a supposed “great” owner. With Brady gone, he’s now officially a spineless - but equally delusional - version of Jerry Jones.

To be honest.

The Patriots are beyond lucky that the world is in the toilet.

Because it doesnt seem thet anyone gives a **** this happened. Busy with real problems

What you have been reading is post-exit fiction.
Brady wants to be a extended in ‘18
Pats refuse
Brady wants to be extended last summer.
Pats refuse
Brady wants his 2019 compensation adjusted.
Pats offer incentives
Brady reportedly threatens to walk out of training camp and skip a preseason game
D Day has finally arrived
Furthermore, Brady says screw it, do what you want as long as you let me enter free agency after the season.
Management quickly caves and reworks his 2019 compensation by adding $8 mill in additional cash .... $23 mill now ..... still $2 mill short of his request plus 2 phony extra years to minimize cap damage and make team look downright generous
Realtor gets called immediately
Braxit begins

Brady had to threaten to walk to get $23 mill, $2 mill less than he requested, but today you believe the team was offering in good faith an ever higher valued extension?
Seriously?

I know that this (apparently) is hard for some of you to understand/absorb/believe but money wasn’t really the issue.

BELICHICK
WANTED
TO
MOVE
ON

And so did Brady. We all need to do the same.

$25m fully guaranteed plus $9m incentives. Unknown how likely the incentives are to hit, but the Patriots wouldn't have fully guaranteed two years. What if Brady goes Manning and falls off a cliff?

Belichick practically deprived Brady of weapons on offense as the Hoodie shifted resources to the defense. Sure, there were signings like Brown; but overall, the strategy seemed to treat Brady as an afterthought at best.

The cynic in me believes that Belichick chased Brady off because the star's ego had grown insufferable. Brady couldn't just retire or even give an exact timetable on his career. As a result, a control freak like Belichick was left in constant uncertainty. You don't treat a star like Brady this poorly unless you are sending a message. And the message was received.

Long story short, there is blame to go around for how poor this all unfolded. But we've got bigger issues to worry about and I agree let's just move on.

This isn't what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is based off a combination of various reports, Brady probably wanted a contract extension like what he got now from Tampa Bay from the Patriots (and he was probably concerned about the way the team was going on offense after Gronk's retirement). The Patriots offered him an extension that on the surface was around 25x2 (and most likely did not want to touch his 2019 figure). But with only the first year of the extension guaranteed. Brady took this as a lack of faith by the team in him and rejected it.

Honestly at 2 years it’s not much of a risk. Even if he fell off a cliff in the middle of next year, you draft someone at QB the second year and while he’s on year one of a cheap contract you are basically paying Brady one year to mentor him.

If it was 5 you run into a Jimmy G scenario where you are basically wasting a rookie contract.

Who even gives a **** if he falls off suddenly. It's Tom ****ing Brady. Your entire franchise. You let him finish his career in the same jersey.

Now we gotta watch him playing for the Bucs. Like what the hell. I hope there is a season and he has a monster year.

I heard that Brady was asked to take a pay cut. I've never heard that about BB.

The diva wanted out and BB opened the door.

Brady wants to prove to his teammates that they can"believe in him" because he has a narcissistic god complex. You're not a god Tom, but you are about as tone deaf as other divas who can't relate to people losing jobs and businesses that are on the verge of collapse because of COVID 19.

Did your medicals take doctors and facilities away from serving the sick???

I bet you expected a feeding frenzy for your services and a nationally televised press conference but there are bigger things than you going on...poor Tommy

When the **** are you going to come to grips Tom no longer wanted to be here. He had enough of NE. Like Early Bird said it wasn't about the money.

If you want to say BB chased him out of town because of wanting to go year to year or being worn down by the "system", fine. That same "system" won 6 Super Bowls. Can't have it both ways so you can't cry too much.

Tom was done. BB was done. It's that simple.

I suspect that BB’s decision to move on from Brady was actually finalized in 2018. Who can forget this Pitt sh*t show? I can imagine BB watching embarrassing plays like this and saying to himself “Oh hell, no!” I doubt that Tom House teaches this form to his pupils.

I hope that Tampa fans are prepared for the TB12 Terrified Turtling.

$50M guaranteed?

The market was one team who would make the money guaranteed. Clearly, Brady refused to consider any deal that was heavily laden with performance bonuses. At 43 he is right to get what he can. At 43, any team is more than justified in making any deal with Brady performance-based.

Belichick was right to wait to see a) what the market was, b) whether Brady was interested in returning, and c) if the Patriots could responsibly offer a better deal.

The Patriots move on with greater flexibility for 2020 and 2021. 12 draft picks, a cupboard full of young players who now have every incentive to prove themselves, increasing cap space by the day, and still the best coach in the history of the NFL.

Brady gets a shot at having another big season on his terms.

Best case scenario? Patriots 34 - Buccaneers 30 in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium. Super Bowl MVP? James Develin.

The Pats wanted to go year-to-year. Brady wanted that second year guarantied.

What's not to get? He's gone. The offense needs to be blown up and that process will be a lot easier with Tom gone. Now new WR's and QB's won't have to adapt to the "most complex offense in the league" and will have something that will play to their strengths.
