And the Attorney General would need to actually open an investigation, which isn't going to happen.

The SEC is independent of the DOJ and can bring a civil and/or administrative action if they want...the DOJ would be responsible for any criminal suits

Why collar crime is no longer a thing.

The only Beverly Hillbillies movie I saw was the abomination with Jim Varney. I always get that confused with “Slums of Beverly Hills,” where the red head from “American Pie” uses a vibrator in the bathroom at the beginning of the movie. I saw that movie when I was like 9-10 years old and that scene always stuck out for some odd reason.

I'd be curious if Natasha Lyonne using a bildo didn't stick with you, at any age.

Asymptomatic NBA and European soccer players getting private tests is gross in an "only in the decadent west" sort of way but it's sort of fascinating in that it's giving us insight into the virus that we wouldn't have otherwise. With public testing generally only available for the symptomatic across the globe, we're seeing with the NBA and Valencia (and maybe some other teams) that there's a great deal of asymptomatic cases. Now, these are all extremely healthy people in their 20s and 30s so that finding is both a small sample size and not generalizable, but it's also very interesting when discussing the possibility for herd immunity (maybe a bunch of people already have it and don't know? Won't know until we get RNA/antibody testing), use of serum for treatment, tip of the iceberg theory, etc.
Yeah -- we quickly need to develop some kind of test that can test for immunity (or at least presumed immunity) and then start testing like mad so we can determine what the immunity level is. (This of course presumes being infected makes you develop meaningful immunity.)

Never mind all the politics for a second. How is everyone doing? My stress level is high, I'm limiting my exposure to the news and to facebook, which has turned into the fellowship of the miserable. Physical health is fine. Some panicky people I work with have got me on edge. I try to make light of it, for my own sanity.

"Ha. We know who survives a REAL zombie-pocalypse when one arrives."

I was watching the big cable news all day Monday and Tuesday, and then stopped the last two days. Probably the best form of stress relief. It's probably best to stick to local news, but take it in small doses, if any.

It's hard to even get excited about free agency. I know Tommy is gone, but I keep wondering if he will even get a chance to play this year. September seems so far away.

This is a useful thread:

You are confusing the reporting of twitter nonsense with real reporting. I know it is difficult and I still dont understand why twitter posts are news worthy, but twitter is not real news.

Not only are tweets not news... Twitter is not even real. I read somewhere that a study was done, and it was determined that 80% of user accounts are scripted bots, and like bots, and 20% of accounts are actual humans. Of the 20% of human accounts, 80% of that 20 are celebrities, politicians, and jounalists. The rest being normal people. Twitter uses the bots to inflate like and retweet counts to form/change public opinion.

In short, twitter is NOT REAL LIFE, and is fake AF.

They definitely did it LMFAO. Very clear insider trading. The problem is, unless you have a clear smoking gun, insider trading is exceptionally hard to prove.
What's even crazier is that it was legal for members of the House and Senate to do so before 2012.

I wonder how accurate that is though. My account may give off the appearance as being a bot but obviously I’m not. Can you link the study

The idea is to slow the rate of infection and not overwhelm hospitals
The idea is also to buy as muh time as possible to allow researchers to work on effective cures before this thing hits at full force, if it ever does.

True on Facebook too. Social media and the internet in general are net negatives.

Yeah, Imhof, Burr Loeffler, and Feinstein should all resign. Public pressure would help this is unacceptable.

Real Reporting? The MSM is a joke. No I was unfortunate to see the vid clips myself, I choose to believe my own lying eyes, YMMV.

Yeah, I really question whether or not we see sports in any rush, based on what some of these projections are.

News wise, I am trying to time it to see the weather report and not tune in for the doom and gloom. I m 100% out on sensational crap like GMA and ABC news in gen'l. Just their vocalization and delivery is horrible alone. I am resorting to official websites like CDC and chit like that. Even google-ing, I really look at who I am giving the click to before clicking. The media thing sucks a whole, and I am really being careful on what I click.

Work wise, the three biggest hypochondriacs I work with are off today, so that's a huge relief, not seeing their dead man walking faces all GD day.
