here it's been mostly business as usual. Restaurants and bars operating
Not a good way to approach coronavirus...not at all...

This may just be the most disgraceful post I've read on this forum. Sir, please think long and hard before posting things like this.

I'm sorry, but this post is just irresponsible. To say that TommyBrady12 made the most disgraceful post you've read on the forum...and I read the post, and it wasn't even close to one of TommyBrady's most disgraceful posts.

Disgraceful? Of course. But you're talking about the GOAT of buffoonery. You're overlooking so many historically significant posts by him that are much, much more worthy of the most disgraceful designation.

40% of new US cases are now younger people going to ICUs and being hospitalized. Not just the older crowd.

Those idiots from that spring break video yesterday makes me furious. They don't give a **** about anyone but themselves.

The point of no return has already been hit based on the data from other countries as far as containment and flattening the curve. It may be months until myself..and many others are back at work at this rate and schools may be done for the year.

Sad how unprepared we are. Can't even imagine if this had a higher mortality rate...we would then be truly ******

They're going to have to shut us down for a couple of weeks.

How about we just all believe donny's own words that show his late response to this?

It's really that simple. He obviously seems to be doing a better job now, though certainly not perfect.

Do you think this family is happy with donny's delayed response?

Seven family members got infected with coronavirus, leaving 3 dead - CNN

Sadly, there will be many more stories like this because our "leader" did not take this seriously earlier.

A few more salads may have helped. Obesity is an underlying health condition. 45% of Americans are obese. One of the new CDC experts can run that math for you, I'm sure.

I know many want to bash Trump and the administration for a lack of response, etc and thats fair.

Most of us are practicing social distancing, self-quarrantine, being careful etc. People like me and you are focused on staying healthy and not contributing to the spread of this virus.

When I see people not following best-practices and acting selfishly it really, really pisses me off.

Once we go in lock-down...$500 fine on the spot.

Blocking the flights were excellent moves towards containment. Gutting the response team that was developed due to awful responses to the last 2 outbreaks was not an excellent move, slowing reaction times and impacting the nation in every imaginable way. Compare and contrast the responses of nations that have dealt with a prior viral outbreak and have instituted measures against them, and those that have not and are without measures. We are clearly in the category of without measures, however we at one time had measures developed. As the measures were dissolved, we had experts who understood the subject matter, calling for them to be put back in place. The measures werent reinstated, and here we are. I know you shy away from numbers, calculations and most things scientific, so I will leave it here, at words.

I agree that the removal of his response team was bad. I read it was John Bolton's idea, but you're right - he's the President and needed to take it more seriously. Again, the numbers are still low for the number of deaths per capita compared to other nations. You are talking about a death /total population ratio of 5.4 * 10^-7 so far. South Korea's death ratio has been 1.8 *10^-6. South Korea has had to deal with it longer, but the US is holding its own in this fight. There has been a lot of blame towards the Administration - but in reality how many more lives would it have saved? You're talking really small numbers here, at least so far. Is it the Administration's fault that people were lying about having been in Asia, having gone through Europe as a way to avoid getting tested and quarantined?

Uh, where is he getting those numbers from? Do those numbers account/adjust for lack of testing? This stuff needs to be cited or else it’s just another account spewing crap on social media.

China doing China type things.

And on that note, anyone notice that when they've been trying to blame the US, that they admitted there were cases in November, if not earlier? I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, or that it was created in a weapons lab, but the Chinese government is up to some shadiness, and we shouldn't forget that they're right up there with Russia when it comes to being an enemy. I don't put anything past them.

An earlier response could have prevented deaths, but his conduct does not amount to manslaughter or murder. No one could seriously take him to court for this. At most maybe wrongful death. And at the end of the day, there is no way to determine how many people would have died if he acted earlier. Right now the number is low at 150.

Stay away from the numbers. A few days ago you said it was only 50. In a week your going to say it's only a few thousand.

Another thing, you can't become a coronavirus statistic if you weren't tested. So the real number of deaths is unknown.

By the way there are now 174 deaths.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they had concocted this in a lab for years and years to use for biological warfare. That country, and its government, have a history of human rights abuses.

Have the forum liberals tried apologizing to the virus?

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings

Please listen to what multiple people have been telling you over the past week.

This isn't about *you*, and it never has been. This is about a pandemic that will dramatically alter and end the lives of many people.

When you post inaccurate things about this situation, you are (in a small way) contributing to this crisis. People aren't chastising you for the fun of it, we're genuinely trying to help you (and others) better understand the magnitude of this situation and point out the errors in your assumed positions.

If it came out that this was the case, I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I suspect it, for sure, but there's no real evidence...yet.

I'm down in the Fort Myers area where they finally shut down the beaches. And that was a local decision, not statewide. While I've read of Massachusetts basically shutting down all social venues, here it's been mostly business as usual. Restaurants and bars operating, spring breakers doing what they do, and so on. The only hint of coronavirus has been depleted shelves in the grocery stores. My wife and I have been like hermits, hanging out by the pool or on the boat.
Same in Palm Beach.
They did close beaches in Broward and Miami earlier this week, again by the locals.
Miami, Broward & Palm Beach have 54% of the statewide cases.

I appreciate you making more an effort to be honest and fair in your assessment. Seriously, thank you for opening your mind and acknowledging some of the nuances here. I'm glad to see some progress. And that may sound sarcastic and condescending but I mean it genuinely.

As far as your statement about the U.S. holding its own, I think that remains to be seen. We'll have a better idea in 7-10 days, as testing (hopefully) increases and people currently incubating begin to get ill.
