Jules wants out?

If Sanu can get a 2nd because he was under contract for multiple years at cheap money, so should Jules....... (2 years left on his deal)
Sanu was a mid season pick up, i.e. a seller's market, so we over-paid.

Now it's the off season and it's a buyer's market, Tampa has no reason to overpay with draft and cap casualties coming up.

I hate this. Hate. Hate. Hate.

Its a year early before I expected JE to be kicked to the curb.

Hopefully BB can find a way to get him to buy in for one more year.

If not....hes gone.
Ummm this is JE11 liking the idea that he would be Pippin to TB's Jordan.

Let's not spin this into a different narrative.

If we trade Edelman would that make the Patriots WR/TE grouping officially the worst in league history?

He's going to be 34, and this is not a trade deadline deal.

So, while anything is possible, I don't see Edelman bringing back a 2nd round pick.
I'd take a third, but it's worth it to see if Tampa gets crazy. Tampa may only have one season to get this done and win a SB. They could even trade a 2021 second.

Thanks for clicking the clickbait so the rest of us didn't have to.

Brexit before and Foxborexit now ? ;)

If they can get handsome compensation for JE, fine, trade him wherever.

But you don't unload a guy because he's bummed and wants to leave. You also need to think long and hard about unloading a potential security blanket for a young QB in his first year as a starter.

Yes, Tom did a lot for Julian and they have a close relationship, but let's not forget that Belichick gave him the opportunity to play here with Tom.

Belichick needs to do what's best for the team, and that means making a sober assessment of JE's value to the team and what he could net in a trade. It does not mean trading a player simply because he's upset that he lost his close friend and longtime QB.

Welker had 112 catches with Brady in 2007. He had 111 with Cassel in 2008.

Having a player like Edelman would be a significant boon for Stidham or whoever takes over.

Plus Edelman's close to royalty here (he might be the most popular athlete in Boston right now); I doubt that would happen in Tampa Bay.

???

That happens all the time. Hell, it happened in New England just last year.

Hold the price firm at a 2nd round pick and make em squirm. Might not get it, but might ultimately get a pretty good offer.

We're under no obligation to trade him and he's worth a lot more to Tampa than any other team who has a short title window and wants to keep Tom happy.

This is convincing! Two 1sts and two 2nds!

Better to get rid of him now since he has actual value...his market for a trade may never be higher

Man. Really feels like we're going to stretch the defense out as long as we can and maybe focus more on an offensive rebuild this off-season. With Brady gone the time is already here. Might as well trade Edelman for what you can and get a pick out of him. Maybe throw in a 3rd with him for a 2nd or something

No one is spinning anything.

I don't like the idea of JE being traded.

Yet.

The dead cap hit blows in 2020. Looks much better in 2021.

I could see a mid-season deal if all looks lost.

Trade Jules for Brady. ;)

Just for general info, and I'm using your post because it is giving specific rounds, not because I'm targeting it:

The only round Tampa has more than one pick is the 4th.

Edelman for Howard

Fine, yet "JE to be kicked to the curb" is a false narrative, no one is being kicked as far as we know.
